Feedback on a new possible faction - Vigilantes - Corile - 06-15-2014 So, because of pretty much complete inactivity of the LPI, Liberty for now is a smuggler heaven. Even if some pilots from LN are active, they don't even bother scanning ships and seeing if they haul something forbidden. You can seriously fly near Norfolk with Junker Pirate Train loaded up with Cardamine and they won't even bat an eye. Even pirates have much better days in Liberty right now. I was talking with a few people and asked them before posting on the forums, and they agree with the above. So I was thinking about making a quasi-lawful faction of the Vigilantes. Since the pirates should really get their asses kicked, we would be a lot more merciless than regular Police. No taking fines, either you drop cargo or get blown up. In case of bigger transports (I think 3,600 and bigger), there would be no talking, similar with pirates. I've already written a bit of lore, but I must work on it a bit more, but here's a little snippet of faction overview: Quote: Somethings that probably will be asked: How is this different from BHG? RE: Feedback on a new possible faction - Vigilantes - Sath - 06-15-2014 Not trying to demotivate you or anything like that, since there is already an LPI, why dont you merge in your ideas with them? Maybe join them, and continue what you are going to do, give in your ideas to them and if you are lucky, you can stir up activity there as well. Since there is not much difference in playing a police in LPI, or in this faction. If you are not wanting to do that, you can put forward some uniqueness (gameplay/use of tech/inRP characters) into this faction, which sets it apart from what LPI offers and actually gets interest among people. Its either do something new, or try to bring back the dead. Or else, there wont be any longevity.....you can see that from the sudden rise of so many new unofficial groups which dont have a unique goal, gameplay, and subsequently disbanding within weeks. Also, as I said, this faction is supposed to be quasi-lawful, meaning we wouldn't do exactly the same things LPI does. As I wrote at the end, LPI must follow the Liberty Law, and they can't do anything against transports that are carrying some cargo that is not necessarily forbidden by the law (in my opinion for example Hydrogen Cyanide should be considered contraband, but such things will be talked through when/if the faction actually is created). RE: Feedback on a new possible faction - Vigilantes - Corile - 06-15-2014 I was thinking between LPI ID and Bounty Hunter ID, but for what we want to do I think LPI ID fits better. There are things that don't really work with what I want this faction to become, but until/if we can get this to be official, we will use LPI ID. It kinda sucks that we can't really kill the ship carrying contraband if they want to drop it, but this can be worked out with proper RP. If the Carrier idea will be done and will actually make sense, then I will probably submit SRP request for it. RE: Feedback on a new possible faction - Vigilantes - Python 72 - 06-15-2014 Really love the idea, sounds like a lot of fun, just the usual challenges of trying to successfully RP a faction in Lolberty! Just my 10 cents here I guess if it helps. Personally I would have your faction as a wing, or precinct, of LPI. Then you could RP yourselves as a bunch of LPI who got sick of the criminal problems facing Liberty, and the apparent apathy of your superiors to want to fix the issue (whether this is because of their corporate leanings, focus on retirement fund, or too liberal and nice in their interpretation of the law, whatever). Then essentially it is a bunch of disillusioned cops taking matters into their own hands as the best way forward to bring about the Liberty they love. Of course this does rule out any RP in terms of dissatisfied citizens taking up arms, but up to you. You would still be left with ID issues but its an option. This is, again, affiliating ourselves with LPI, but we want nothing to do with them except the ID (and IFF in some cases). As far as the current storyline written (most of it was based actually on events that have already been RPed), the command of Vigilantes are people affiliated more with the Navy than the police (refer to the storyline fragment above). You said you can't kill the ship after it dropped the contraband; as this is a server rule, you won't be able to circumvent it with any ID or RP. |
