Discussion of Order Council - Magoo! - 12-23-2008 Xor Wrote:But here's the beauty of it : BS| has freedom to evolve as a squadron of The Order, even if the larger Order as a whole does not evolve along the same lines, or doesn't evolve at all. Those who wish to change may do so, and those who do not wish to should not be forced to when the mod's storyline hasn't. I concurr. One squadron, no matter how powerful, should never be able to dictate the role of an entire planet's populace. I shall give an example, as in my mind, everbody is looking at this too linearly. When Orillion first stole the Osiris and flew away because he disagreed with Liberty, his small flying city was all hunky-dory. They found Toledo. They colonized Toledo. The reproduced. Now, Liberty all up in arms over having lost hundreds of millions in credits on an experimental ship being flown into the abyss are rather irritated. They begin shooting down Order ships, calling them thieves and criminals and terrorists or what-have-you. Now, little Timmy on Planet Toledo just finds out that his dad or brother got blown to smithereens by some trigger-happy, loon of a Libertonian. Little Timmy is very angry about this, and maybe when Little Timmy grows up, he'll try to get revenge. So Little Timmy comes of age and says, "Huwwo, mistow! Can I haz Anubis?" To which the under-manned Commander says, "Certainly!" So Little Timmy, having grown and fed a firey hatred of Liberty for taking away eight years of precious memories, which would have promised many more to come were it not for the 'corrupt' and 'homicidal' Libertonians, goes out on his first mission. Little Timmy is excited when he sees several red blips appear on his radar. After a long and arduous, battle, Little Timmy has killed his first two people. Little Timmy is happy with himself, but having bred such a fierce predjudice, Little Timmy wants to cleanse the Sector of more of these rats. One day, some no-name who Timmy had seen floating around for a couple of years tries to tell Timmy not to be mean to any more Libertonians. Timmy asks the man if he had ever had so much of his life stolen, to which the man replies with a rather robotic yet overly energetic, "Don't attack them. We are not at war! Defence! USA!" Timmy is confused, and proceeds as he had for the past six years of his life. Upon returning, Timmy is assailed by the same no-name who claims Timmy was a traitor who stole his ship and was, upon whispering into the headset, "Out of RP". Timmy was then threatened with a 'Sanction' whatever that was, and is then told that said no-name was attempting to organize a rather biased selection of Order pilots to oversee all that was Toledo and her operations. Now, again, having no allegiance to this man's squad and indirectly, the squad command structure, Timmy lands and goes to sleep. -Fun alternate ending!- Upon returning, Timmy is assailed by the same no-name who claims Timmy was a traitor who stole his ship and was, upon whispering into the headset, "Out of RP". Timmy was then threatened with a 'Sanction' whatever that was, and is then told that said no-name was a member of a rather biased selection of Order pilots who oversee all that was Toledo and her operations. Timmy is rather scared, as he just went directly against the new command structure! After a long silence, Timmy intercepts a small bit of a transmission directed to, "His Lordship, High Master and Ruler of Sirius, the Headmaster of the Adminious League" which involved the no-named Man clicking and clucking in some strange butchery of a language. Timmy also intercepted a small fragment of an image which held his conversation with the no-name typed neatly out in Verb 2.6 . Timmy lands on Toledo, still scared about possible discharge and decides to sleep it off. The following morning, Timmy wakes up in a plastic box with a small flashlight and a piece of paper taped to the 'roof' of the box saying, "You have been banned and cannot connect to the server". Timmy frets, not knowing what exactly was happening and was powerless to do anything about it. The End! ... Get my point? Let the ooRP members of the Order do their own thing. If they're stupid enough to do it, let them be sanctioned and rid the server of them. Don't let those of us with ulterior motives get shafted as well. Not everybody in the Order resembles a cute, impeccably innocent child with a speech impediment saying, "We mean you no hawm, mistow! Pwease don't keew us. We just want to hurt those mean nasty Nowmads!" Discussion of Order Council - Heartless - 12-23-2008 problem is, they get sanctioned... and do it again XD and I think that if Bs| wasn't connected to the mother clan then we here in disco wouldn't be called Bs| but maybe TO| for "The Order" or something, idk, crazy though, heh' Discussion of Order Council - Koolmo - 12-23-2008 You should write childrens books or something... Discussion of Order Council - Xoria - 12-23-2008 ' Wrote:problem is, they get sanctioned... and do it again XDIronic that you should bring up repeat offenders, considering that probably the most prolific repeat offender in Disco history is...well, you know. Very few do it again, and far fewer survive a second attempt at misbehavior. I doubt Amun will risk his cap 8 armor on another attack against a fellow Order pilot. Discussion of Order Council - n00bl3t - 12-23-2008 ' Wrote:problem is, they get sanctioned... and do it again XD TO| is already taken. (As a faction name, albeit unofficial.) Edit: Answered on Skype. Discussion of Order Council - Heartless - 12-23-2008 TO| exists? lol, as what? And yes, I know who you mean Xoria heh' Discussion of Order Council - Nevearo - 12-23-2008 I'd facepalm, but it's an overused trope. This is an Indie thing. This is a proposal to attempt to control the Indie population. There is no apologetic actions involved in this situation. It is designed to direct the RP of the Independent Order of the Server. Therefore, it is an Indie thing. The question becomes now, is it a Faction versus thing. The answer to that question is; As long as it is a faction making the rules, yes. This IS a faction versus indie thing. If you want it to stop being so, Dump your control. If you all genuinely think that a Order Council is such a good thing, Give it to the Indies and put YOURSELVES under THEIR control. You are trying to do the opposite with the current proposal. It may not be your intent, I will allow for that, but just like how a Benevolent Tyranny isn't a good idea because of the one that comes after, so too is this council a bad idea for the potential for abuse it opens up. I think that the Admins will be able to see that as clearly as I can, so I doubt this will be an issue anyway. Discussion of Order Council - AdamantineFist - 12-23-2008 Just wondering something here... if a lot of you think that the council is a Bad Idea because it's Bs| controlled (which it's not, in my opinion), why don't you nominate someone for council membership? If you find someone, then just tell us who you think it should be. If you can't think of anyone, then I'd guess that the council pretty much represents the views of the Order, don'tcha think? Discussion of Order Council - Drake - 12-23-2008 Why don't you make a thread where all the independent Order characters can make themselves known, and have them nominate people? And that includes independent Order characters who the Bs and certain (even most) indies dislike. But seeing as the council has no actual authority, it makes little difference who's on it. |
