Ha! Knew it. I guess admins were just shying away from the question then? Even I have spoken to Doj on the matter.
So yeah, they need to talk to <BAD ADMIN DOGE> and fix this. Rather, slap some sense into him or something.
I'm actually really shocked he of all people would do it.

I'm pretty sure, if it's tru...i know who it is.

Disappointing....that's all you'll here me say on the matter. I hope I'm wrong.

Perhaps the responsible may come clean and do us all a favour, eventully it'll be fixed - but atleast don't ruin the others pleasure.

1. It might be just another trolling attack, imho. They trolled us like bosses before.
2. If it's not and one of Admins is really leaking - I'd like to know why? What made him so disappointed? I don't believe they all do it just for fun! Let him speak, please!

I would honestly vote for the server to be wiped. I know that everyone is sitting there gasping in horror over this idea but honestly.. its just a game. It puts EVERYONE back on even ground. Yes, I say this with characters/accounts that have high level ships, battle ships and millions invested in each and every one. So if put to a vote, count me in for having the server reset.

The admins are already doing that for the past few days.

Also, just to clarify to everyone once and for all, and I'm really, really sorry in advance for the mental picture, but:

The anticheat and the server are not the same thing. Wiping the server/rollbacking won't help prevent more hacks.

You see, think of the anticheat as the skin of your body and the server as the inside, specifically, your stomach. Altough the skin protects your body, you can still get inside it via your mouth or nose or less usual places. What happened here is that the rotten food (hackers) entered the stomach (the server) through the mouth or other orifice in the skin (the gaps in the anticheat system). You can either hope your body's defenses deal with the rotten food while you agonize until you get better (admins), or you can go and puke (server wipe / rollback). Puking may stop the rotten food, but it won't do anything to prevent rotten food from entering your body via the mouth or... other orifices. And that is exactly what is going on here.

The admins are patching the anticheat system to prevent further hacker incursions, and the rollback will only be done in case not all cheated items and credits can be found, which is very plausible since not only people first accepted stuff believing it was a donation, but later even when it was revealed as a cheating, a lot of people kept accepting it.

So there you go: rollback to remove all cheated items, compeltely unrelated to future hacker attempts. Only reason why no decision has been made yet is because if they rollback or wipe without patching and fixing the anticheat, the hacks will happen again.

Capisce?

Good explanation!!!

PoBs were a great idea and had enormous potential to expand gameplay and RP in Discovery. But like other great ideas, such as nuclear energy and communism, it was ultimately ruined by avarice and narcissism, as well as the need to both have and be the biggest <expletive> on the block.

Bravo.

(ps. 18 pages??? And people were afraid Disco was dying)

Disco isn't dying, last week I saw nearly 200 players on the server... But the issues with the PoB's and the hackers combined are tearing this server apart. There is a connection between these two things.

(ps. I smell BassHunters...)

RE: Admin Notice: Player Owned Bases - Luke. - 08-18-2013

Quick questions then:

I believe Prowler said the rollback would be 2-4 days...about a week ago or something. Any rough estimation of how far back it's going to go? Time's ticking on and though I appreciate the admin team are hard at work to figure out what the best options are, it'd be nice to know just how much we may lose.

Again, no pressure. Just a query.
