Traders/Smugglers ignore 4Hour rule?!?! - Armageddon - 07-10-2008

My version of events

Power trader: MUST MAKE MONEYS!!!!
Unnamed Pirate: Money or die
Power trader: pew pew pew die sucker!!!!
Unnamed Pirate: PEW PEW PEW

*Power trader dies*

At this point trader flies the same route and is pirated again, the pirate has every right to reengage in this instance as the trader has ignored the PVP rules

It has been stated multiple times before, Traders are exempt form the 4 hour system rule, as in they can keep coming back to a system. Given they are trading they shouldn't be engaging pirates in the first place, the pirate fres the CD or disrupts the lanes, he's the one re-engaging, which is fine per the rules, as he's the victor in the last engagement. The trader gets pirated/destroyed again. He tries again with the same result. He can keep doing it all day the only thing he accomplishes is bankrupting himself at the end of the day.

Well there is ZERO mention of this made-up rule in the server PVP rules section.

Seeing people post that it does exist over and over and over again in threads is a huge concern to me.

It would be nice if an Admin has time and would comment on this.

Admins have posted on it before. This is not the first time this has come up and I'm damn sure it won't be the last. Hoodlum mentioned it a while back. Although I agree that if it is a hard and fast exception it should be there for all to see.

Ive seen it multiple times, Id get pirated and pay, the trader behind me wouldnt and "pew pew pew" dead trader. He'd respawn and do the same thing again, with a similar effect.

Pew Pew Pew
Trader = Pink mist

Over and over again for like a hour.

I've seen these things happening .

I read a lot on the forums here. More reading than in game time actually. I am trying to learn as much as I can.
Would it be possible to get these clarifications posted in one thread or added to the rules themselves to help clear up some of the confusions. As a newer player I understand just how hard and confusing it all is starting out.

A trader should never be in a PvP scenario, so this shouldn't matter.

What a Trader is more likely involved in is a Piracy scenario. 4-hour rule does not apply to piracy deaths.

K, well, actually...
Say a LN pilot wins against an HF in NY.
Later, that same HF is attacking in say...VA...(which is allowed)
The LN can reingage, because he won.

Whenever a trader is pirated, and refuses to pay, he either flees, or dies. The pirate wins, and can reingage. Traders would never start a combat(unless you're me, and have a pair/trio/foursome of ace pilots following you around cause they love you.)

Well then, they usually ignore it...

I find a situation where they really shouldn't be allowed to ignore it, when they come back without cargo to attack you... that's a pure pvp scene...

That is true. Traders shouldn't even be allowed to do that, within four hours or not.
