Is there any one of those programs that have a free version/demo? I would like to give it a try Smile

What programs do people use? What tips are there? What's the best way to start out?
I've got some basic modelling experience.

I use Maya 2013. And for complex objects i use CATIA V5 and import them then into maya. It's much easier, faster and looks awesome. But i warn you, maya is really time consuming if you start with it. Here, my first model which have cost me nearly one year.

I've made the eagle with CATIA

Wings 3D is pretty user friendly. May want to use a different program for the UV mapping, but it has simple controls, easy to access functions, a number of popular formats to export, its very versatile.

Yes, conceptualize, which is what Sketchup was designed to do. It isn't meant to make models with any level of detail to be implemented ingame.

I'm not saying it isn't possible because I use the program myself and it is, but don't confuse it with something that its not.

True. Luckily, though, the limits of the Freelancer engine make it so that SketchUp is more than enough for it Smile No use in making a billion polys model if then the game has a seizure upon loading it.
