RE: If Zoners are getting their caps removed... - Scumbag - 02-28-2014 It's a small and well organised force, and it has a lot of funding from the rest of the Guild. Define small. Define well organised. Define "a lot of funding". RE: If Zoners are getting their caps removed... - NonSequitor - 02-28-2014 A logical and streamlined compromise - remove BSes from all non-house entities. It might even the playing field amongst Borderworld and Omicron factions. Since realism has become fashionable, I think it should be applied as fairly as possible. And while we're at it, remove cloaks from everyone except the Order, The Core and the Nomads, remove JDs from non-combat vessels and remove goofy buffer zones that just keep players apart. Small as in less then 20 battleships iirc from what AeternusDoleo said. Organised as in Guildmaster, centralised power, recruitment process, ranks, a goal, as oposed to zoners who are independent. Funded as in all the money from bounties in four houses from governments, corporations, civilians go to them. Then how much of that would be knocked off in various costs of keeping the hunters themselves in pay, maintaining the house-hunting vessels, supply costs, administration and employing the people to do the administration, the amount of credits lost to "the system" if you want... How much does it actually cost to build, crew, maintain and field a large warship? The houses would have to be spending a significant portion of their GDP on merely employing bounty hunters, if enough cash was flowing to the guild core for them to field 20 battleships + screens... Are they doing this, in lore? These are things to consider. I don't have the answers. RE: If Zoners are getting their caps removed... - Ryummel - 02-28-2014 Could've been easier removing the heavy battleship slots on both Nephi and Aquillon or at least keeping two on them rather than four. After all the main issue is the fact of these being used for military purposes rather than their actual role as colony ships. PS: Well, correction, the Aquilon is meant to be a carrier, so as carrier should remain with an also nerfed firepower. How much does it actually cost to build, crew, maintain and field a large warship? As far as bounty collection goes, from an in lore context, no-one has an actual answer. From an RP standpoint, the players here are generally considered the absolute elite of the NPC faction. That applies to all factions. So, within the space occupied by the houses, all of which have populations of many, many billions, you have to factor up earnings respectively. If we represent the top 0.5% of the NPC factions as players, then factor up the earnings of the faction by 200x. If we're the top 0.05% (which seems more realistic to me, but what do I know. I'm just a computer technician) then factor up by 2000x. So, inRP credit intake would be in the billions, if not trillions. How much does it cost to build a battleship, inRP? Does anyone have an answer to that? I doubt it. It's all just conjecture. All we can go on is that the Core are an elite paramilitary group, with high levels of funding. Whether that's enough to justify the existance of the Mako is difficult to really quantify. RE: If Zoners are getting their caps removed... - t0l - 02-28-2014 What about Order caps? They're stranded in fug all nowhere with lawful enemies in nearly every house. Probably a fair compromise...but I almost want them to just lose them now just for the sheer amount of whining. I'm a father of 2 (soon to be 3) children...and I don't reward my kids for whining when they don't get what they want. They get punished. Otherwise, you just end up with spoiled children. |
