RE: The Birth of Terror (inRP) (FO) - Johnathan Nox Carter - 04-02-2016 Coronado, Sabah Shipyard, bay V ::: 920 hours
Although he already knew the schematics and had prior notice about the Deimos, even Erik Corvin was awed by de Mortis' presentation. She truly beguiled everyone. But, this was the perfect momentum to build upon and make sure the C.D.I. get all the funding necesary for this project. With a smile on his face and a high tone, he jumped from his seat in front of everyone and began "Director Larkin, Admiral Richard, ladies and gentlemen - allow me to continue. Minister de Mortis has presented the Deimos better than anyone ever could. Yes, this will be the beast that our enemies shall fear, the blazing beacon of hope for the Republic. But in order for it to become that - we need to ensure its construction is dealt with most efficiently." He pauses for a second, takes his breath and continues "With proper funding, this project will be finished in three months. We also expect that when the first prototype is finished and proves to be fully functional to our expectations, Sabah can sustain the construction of at least two or three more during this year. Perhaps with the help of the Miners Guild maybe even more." He steps towards the side "And I can promise, my fellow Crayterians, that this will happen!" He then took back his seat, next to director Larkin and breathed to calm himself after all the excitement. Xi let the Admiral, then the President's beother, speak. She allowed herself that much rest, before getting up and retaking the stand. She took another breath. "Due to the projected costs for construction, we have decided that, to build the first prototype, the Republic will be using the chassis of the Ganymede." She let that sink in. "With the Ganymede's final breath, it will give birth to our next generation. It's final act will be to create the demon, the nightmare to haunt our foes. And as such, we have decided that, if the Deimos is to prove successful...well, we will see. For now, the Ganymede is already prepared for the beginning construction. What materials we bring will help; but I will say this. The Deimos will fly, but at a cost. All of our shipyard is going into this single vessel. So do not risk what we have. Play defensive. Once the prototype is complete, refits and repairs will resume. Until then...do not risk your ships. Do not risk your lives." She paused. "Construction has already begun. In three months, the first prototype shall be ready." Xi smiled. "From there...we shall see what the universe decides." |
