What you're suggesting there is fine, but making it unguided with more speed and less range is fine, but still doesn't solve the problem of hitting cruisers with them (unless you ram them in which case you will die probably). Hitting cruisers with snacs is challenging for most of the people, how are they going to hit with what is basically a slower snac? It's really tricky to balance, but let's wait for Haste to bring his thoughts on reworking bombers. Yes, the only alternative is shooting snacs on battleships which is boring for both sides, but the solution isn't in nerfing/removing the Snac. It's giving an alternative to fighting bigger ships efficiently and with higher risk. Your proposal is good, but it's not a complete solution that'd work in reality. RE: Idea about SNAC/Nova Torpedo - Sand-Viper - 04-10-2016 If I recall, at one point in time, SNACs were nerfed to a pitiful, what, 800m-1000m? That alone made bombers nearly worthless against larger capital ships if you had no Novas, and instantly worthless to battleships/battlecruisers toting flaks. Novas are inaccurate enough. Why make them dumbfire weapons? You'd have to up their projectile speed immensely in order to make them useful, and even then, thanks to server lag, dumbfires are extremely hard to use if they still act like torpedos and retain their explosion radius. The point of a Nova Torpedo is to be able to blow someone's equipment off, so making them act like Hellfire Rocket Pods wouldn't seem like an option either. Honestly, keep Novas/SNACs as-is. If you're getting solo'ed by a single bomber while flying a capital ship, you need to either A: Practice dodging if you prefer to solo play, or B: Group with snubs/gunboats who will eat the bombers for you. Flying with friends is more fun anyways, and when others see a number of people in a system, odds are, they're going to fly there for potential RP or PvP. RE: Idea about SNAC/Nova Torpedo - Jack_Henderson - 04-10-2016 Haste promised a total re-doing of bombers. In such a complete effort to change it (and to make bombers useful!), dumbfire torpedos could play a role. I think it is a nice idea. But ye, Omi pretty much has it in his post.
