RE: Toxicity; The thing that is killing our community, and other things. #nOm_Rant - sasapinjic - 06-03-2017 I fully agree that Official factions/team speak/Skype are CANCER , thats why i never even consider joining any . RE: Toxicity; The thing that is killing our community, and other things. #nOm_Rant - Venkman - 06-03-2017 -snip- Skype quotes are always nice aren't they? At least try to join the conversation meaningfully or don't do anything at all. ~ Syf RE: Toxicity; The thing that is killing our community, and other things. #nOm_Rant - Sombs - 06-03-2017 I do think everyone is aware of some people being dicks. Another rant thread, just like the millions before, won't change anything, especially when you yourself already title it as one. I feel like those threads would be more efficient if they wouldn't come from you, and I think the constant negativity created by such threads won't make any changes but will just attract people to be like "Okay, that's Nomnomnom again". I know the problems of Discovery, I know the problematic names, I know what problems people have with you, I know what problems people had with Shaggy and I know why I won't attend some events and do other things instead. The literally only good thing I get from this thread is people agreeing that player-made events could use some advertisment. However, when I made events, people came. Even to the non-PVP, non-PVE, non-benefit Zoner Pilgrimage event. What the community however doesn't need are rants and people pointing fingers at others. Especially if they are inconsistent themselves. I keep things easy myself and run good with it: I play with the people I like, I offer other people chances, and if they are not pleasant, I don't give too much effs. It is a game and I won't let other people dictate my mood just because they are dicks. I play along the rules and have my fun. The less you make yourself a target, the better it is. RE: Toxicity; The thing that is killing our community, and other things. #nOm_Rant - Misfit - 06-03-2017 Why even post this thread if you're just going to complain and whinge about things without providing any insight into how the community can fix it or even searching for a solution. There's not even a discussion here, it's just you trying your hardest to start a fight with everyone by calling them mean and then complaining about how other people's events are more popular than yours. It's disappointing that you have that picture in your head. If that was that easy, we wouldn't need therapists or prisons. The most successful approach I had so far was a direct talk with on the same level. If you think you can approach people by calling them out publicly, you're sadly wrong. There is nothing you can do against idiots but playing sanctionlancer the very moment they try to pull off crappy moves against you. Some people want to see you suffer. Not only in this community. That's how crowds work. One human is intelligent. Many humans are dumb. And as long as people can profile themselves here at how they 'own' other people and get their shoulders patted by their buttbuddies, nothing will change. Take what you have, make the best out of it, stop ranting, stop ooRP contact with other people, have fun. RE: Toxicity; The thing that is killing our community, and other things. #nOm_Rant - Thunderer - 06-03-2017 Skype is cancer. Wesker doubly so. He is killing our community in conn. PS: And Libertonian "English" is a disgrace to its name. RE: Toxicity; The thing that is killing our community, and other things. #nOm_Rant - sindroms - 06-03-2017 It should be noted that if you want your event to be bumped, nothing really stops you from asking me from pinning it for the day it happens. Like the current Weekend Event pin up there ^ Just remind me to take it off later. That also goes for the ingame Active Events thing. Just poke me about it since I do not always check the Events thread, only when posting something myself. RE: Toxicity; The thing that is killing our community, and other things. #nOm_Rant - Antonio - 06-03-2017 If you think Discovery is toxic you haven't played enough games. The main issue with Discovery is not the level of toxicity, but rather how much people take things personally. Things such as constructive criticism and a bit more aggressive approach are instantly regarded as personal attacks and/or griefing, trolling, harrassing, etc. It partially has to do with the ridiculous forum censoring in 2017 where you -still- aren't allowed to write the s or f words which are as common as saying ok nowadays. Not everyone is out there to get you, and people won't agree with you always, and even if someone is out there to get you, you're on the internet - take it with a pinch of salt. Slightly off topic paragraph now. Internet is much more open than real world, and censoring it -more- than the real world with words commonly used irl makes no sense whatsoever. I'm not saying that you should say the f and s words all the time for the sake of using them, but if you see someone saying it or even harsher words such as the c word, you won't go call the police. Here? You're instantly reported if the auto filter didn't stop you already, and the post is invised. At one point we censored the word salt ffs. I am/have been in quite a few communities by now, and -none- have the laughable language restrictions like discovery has for even the most basic words. |
