RE: Open Letter to the Community - Ash - 03-07-2018 Is that what this is all about? Truth or no, the OP could certainly have spared us the guilt trip. There's no need for it. We can discuss this matter objectively without that sort of manipulation. EDIT (03-07-2018, 09:53 AM)Aya Nakimoto Wrote: Alternate pathway, sure I suppose, but this is the path I selected. Fault me on it. Which is fine with me. But mind you. It doesn't change how I would do it if I had chance to do it over I guarantee you'll regret that decision if this thread gets any traction. It escapes me why you would share such intimate details of your mother's poor mental health state with a group of strangers. If she was real, and I was her, to say i'd be upset is a gargantuan understatement. If you are indeed telling the truth i'd strongly advise taking down your original post. RE: Open Letter to the Community - Karlotta - 03-07-2018 I don't know for sure, but it appears that the IRP transmission that was talked about in the OP is about the Abh Research Group base complex being destroyed unless they let Battlegroup Harmony dock. I could be mistaken. RE: Open Letter to the Community - Silly - 03-07-2018 Either way, Discovery has always been bad for sensitive people. I suggest another game. Wrong account but whatever. RE: Open Letter to the Community - SnakThree - 03-07-2018 Why do people feel the need to comment on these type of statements. Person wanted to make his or her statement. He or she did. Everyone else can move on. Have a good day. RE: Open Letter to the Community - OrignlGaminGeneration (OGG) - 03-07-2018 Hi, Ash. whether this story is true or not ( anyone can use another acct to post their thoughts in third person if it seems to place a shield or divider so to speak from who they perceive is their real selves for protection or run some sort of manipulation agenda. i get that.) there are elements to this story I can recognize as very old school Japaneese that females of that culture had to unfairly endure that break their individuality and not allow them emotional growth thus making it difficult for them to deal with conflict, rejection and constructive criticism of any kind. I know due to having been born in japan as a half breed in the 60's to a military family and have lived in the USA since the 80's. Yes I do agree that this is a gaming community and this is not the place for this much private life issues if at all. However it has been posted and one of our community members does need to be built up and be given some encouragement and direction. So I will take this story at face value and not risk the possibility that I pushed someone in the wrong direction. Maybe you can give some advice to help her in her dealings with Harmony cause that is what I will do just in case this threads writer is telling the truth. Here is what I think is bothering MotokoSusu in case you did not see the thread. https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=158795 RE: Open Letter to the Community - OrignlGaminGeneration (OGG) - 03-07-2018 Ms. Nakimoto, Sorry to hear about the state of affairs with your mother's life and hope she is doing better in dealing with her RP conflict with Battle Group Harmony over Abh| base in Kepler. H| has hinted at the possibility of avoiding conflict in their last transmission and you may want to inform Cmdr. Motoko Susubo so she can negotiate a peaceful resolve concerning the base in question. I think with an earnest and non combative approach this can be resolved. I am not saying grovel and get stepped underfoot, just don't allow emotions to dictate the negotiations. maybe allow H| to inspect the base with clear understanding they not bring their conflict with Liberty lawfuls to the base in question. If all fails and she has evidence that she exhausted all approaches short of threatening Harmony then transmit a S.O.S to all Zoners factions, Zoner Indies and allies to defend base. Here is Harmony's last transmission. https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=158795 RE: Open Letter to the Community - Nodoka Hanamura - 03-07-2018 ^ This is the best course of action for when she returns. Hell, go talk to Harmony ooRP and discuss the situation. They'll explain that all you need to do is follow their instructions - Like I said before - they most likely don't hold any disdain towards you ooRP (Heck, if I were in their HIGHCOM right about now, I'd frankly be a little upset about all this towards my contemporaries.) That aside, I think it's best for admins and mods to lock this thread as I can feel from some of the responses it's going to get heated. Balancing is very hard, if not impossible because there are too many various scenarios. Bases can not be indestructible and protected from "mean people" if we are to keep RP environment here, because mean people are part of the human society which we roleplay in this game. I doubt you can solve this problem entirely even on mechanics basis without favouring either the base owners or the "mean guys" (which can be even from lawful side). It would either have be incredibly difficult and restricting for both sides, or the bases would have to be removed from the inRP environent entirely what is not a way to go also. RE: Open Letter to the Community - Thunderer - 03-07-2018 Oh dear. When someone who's participated in real bloody war gets a PTSD from Disco. Tells something about it. You actually can rebalance PoBs mechanics-wise in order to give more equal chances for both sides of a siege to succeed. It would need buffing hull points big time and nerfing repair rates accordingly, which then would grant us sieges requiring less people to overcome the repair rate but allowing a lot more time for the defenders to respond. The core of the concept is to create a - currently nonexistent - middle ground between either "our five dreads aren't making progress with a dps below the repair rate" and "it's just the six of us for 20 minutes and the Core4 is down".
The idea has gotten as far as being liked by (at least) two balance devs, but that was before Karst disappeared and I don't know what's the current dev team's stance on it right now. I can provide lotta spreadsheets of actual numbers resulting from several different possible settings if required. |
