And if you honestly need to fulfil your sexual fantasies by writing them as RP in Disco then you probably should consider your life choices. I agree that we should ban communism and delete Coalition from the mod, though. RE: Age restrictions - ONIKS - 07-18-2020 Communism depicted in Coalition looks more like a satire and let it be that way. Communism doesn't work in real life so let it be fantastic power fantasy on Disco. Small semi-dead factions are not relevant so why bother. RE: Age restrictions - Lythrilux - 07-18-2020 Does Discovery do enough to protect minors? RE: Age restrictions - WizardLizard - 07-18-2020 (07-18-2020, 09:33 PM)Lythrilux Wrote: Does Discovery do enough to protect minors? I mean no but generally the game is old enough so that the people who discover it (see what i did there) or return to it bc of nostalgia are technically above minors. Again, 13 is probably the lowest age group on the forums and in server chats. PG-13 sounds good. Also, the responsibility to keep disco protective of minors isnt completely the mods responsibility. Its also the responsibility of the readers to understand what they think they arent allowed to read. Then again, if a post is way over the top, then take it down lol. I leave that to Kruger and BMM's security divisions. /s In reality, it's actually really hard to get an R rating without nudity in the US. You have to do some really egregious with your violence. Or say the F word twice. In that respect, Discovery is definitely a PG-13 seeing as we don't even have bloodshed. Of course, if Team America: World Police could get an R using puppets, I'm sure we could manage it with a 17 year old spaceship sim. The forum should be locked behind a button that asks you if you are 18 or older. Everyone knows people under 18 can't click that button. what about having images showing "young girls" in the the form of anime/manga or whatever its called which all show the same? RE: Age restrictions - Champ - 07-18-2020 It's been three hours since the OP, chill out, jeez. Now in GM capacity, Discovery is NOT an R rated zone, on the server or anywhere in the forums, and content that deserves such a rating should be reported immediately. Aside from that, it's another personal project of mine to explicitly discuss and bring into the rules that we should generally be aiming for ESRB Teen, in accordance with the original rating of the game. The thing is, we don't have an age filter, so we can't really have content exceeding that standard, or we won't be compliant with COPPA. Also MPAA is not designed for games and is a bad rating system anyway and you can tell them I said so RE: Age restrictions - Emperor Tekagi - 07-18-2020 Champ's signature is already requiring a 18+ button. Joke aside, I do not think that you can give Disco any real age restriction. The universe itself is pretty dark, the game and ingame RP easily bypasses PG-13 or any restriction anyways, with no form of observation or control mechanism ever working effectively. The forums had (have?) their swear filter and hardcore slavery RP and whatnot is denounced by the community already quite well. I suppose as long as we do not derail into cyber RPs on forum, we are good with the way we handle it now?! |
