RE: Accelerate Discovery Time Flow - Toaster - 11-09-2020 I just really don't see the need for either an increase in time passing or adding years to major updates. I believe simple suspension of disbelief is all that's required for everyone to get along as we have been for years now. Suddenly time-skipping when an update comes out and potentially messing with ongoing RP doesn't seem like it's worth it to me and would actually be harder to rationalize, in my opinion. RE: Accelerate Discovery Time Flow - darkwind - 11-09-2020 Time for speedforce! ![]() Everything is so slow, it would be nice to be slightly speeding it up. RE: Accelerate Discovery Time Flow - Groshyr - 11-09-2020 The first thing we need to speed up is disco bureaucracy, not time flow RE: Accelerate Discovery Time Flow - Thyrzul - 11-09-2020 (11-09-2020, 03:01 PM)Corile Wrote:(11-09-2020, 02:56 PM)Thyrzul Wrote:(11-09-2020, 02:45 PM)Corile Wrote: I think that instead of doing 2:1 we could advance a year with every major version alongside every real-life year. That's definitely one way to make things progress a little faster. I suggested that a long time ago and I think it was done one alongside one of the updates five-or-so years ago. Perhaps it looked like that when one of the updates was released with the new year and the two things coincided, but we didn't have both methods of inRP year advancement at the same time. This isn't true. When I RP'd in SWTOR the convention was 3:1. Every 1 week was 3, and it wasn't really written anywhere it was just the 'thing' that people had. Sure, you'll get people who don't understand why its like that, but its not as if people are incapable of explaining it. RE: Accelerate Discovery Time Flow - Thunderer - 11-09-2020 Don't accelerate per se. Make rolls forward. At the time when most wars converge to peace, give the belligerents a year or a few to rest, which will be skipped, and then go on when there's a new crisis on the horizon. Player characters shouldn't die of old age as it's just a few years and it won't happen often. I like this option because it lets us slow down when necessary, while allowing us to speed up when the times are boring. RE: Accelerate Discovery Time Flow - Pepe - 11-09-2020 I'd like to keep 1:1 in years scale, but not in months scale. Sometimes we will need 4 months of game pass in just one iRL month. Sometimes we could play one inRP month all ooRP summer, if something funny is going on. Making something funny going on is a different story. RE: Accelerate Discovery Time Flow - Kampanom - 11-09-2020 Relevant. RE: Accelerate Discovery Time Flow - Machelvanius - 12-17-2020 tl;dr I think it's important to note that it takes so long for a story to develop that many times when in the game it feels like someone is writing a story that I have never felt part of the development. If we're going to keep it 1:1 then it should have more information, the story should be easily accessible and new developments should come from in game. I believe that if all players have information on developing story lines, people will want to play that out. I know I would. It's a big game and many things happen in one year. I for one don't understand them all. Some of them I just give a big WTH and put my hands up, cause it seemed to come out of left field. I'm sure there are places where the information exists, I just never see it, except on random base infocards. |
