Epilogue
The treachery caught Anaïs by surprise. Her ship, disabled, she drifted away helplessly. But her Maquisard escorts were quickly ready and start moving down through the Corse opportunists, with their battle-hardened skills, and eliminated the traitors ruthlessly.
They prepared to tow Anaïs and her freighter to safety, but their victory was short-lived. Soon after, wave after wave, after wave of Ghissoni's Corsicans kept coming toward the Anaïs' freighter and her escort.
Corse reinforcements from Montelimar Base nearby came. Some were long-term Maquis friends, some even knew Anaïs, but it didn't matter for them - the information about the attack couldn't leave the Asteroid Field, as it would risk the Corse losing their long-term allies.
Anaïs was hopeful until the end, when she saw how hard and well her Maquisards fought for her. But the kind and hopeful Anaïs was not meant to see the light of another day. Mercilessly executed, she was yet another victim of the ruthless Corsicans. She disappeared with her freighter, without a trace.
