Updater problems and usage - tazuras - 04-29-2009 If it works fine you dont need to post, REALLY. Updater problems and usage - Asgardian - 04-29-2009 Well, the update downloads fine and dandy. But then when it tries to extract the file, it says "Error extracting file". Yet, when I enter Freelancer, the new update has already been implemented and I can play on the updated server. I've just shrugged it off as a quirk in the update program. Updater problems and usage - Lux - 04-29-2009 So far so good on Vista. No problems with it as of yet, major or otherwise. Updater problems and usage - farmerman - 04-29-2009 I wanted to add that it works fine for me in Windows 2000 on my laptop, too, in addition to XP. Only time I had an issue was when something related to Freelancer was open. If the files are in use, it fails big time (as one would expect), though one time I had to restart to get everything back to normal first. It might be a quirk more likely your installation is now a little messed up - probably infocards dlls not updated. This needs to be sorted out...I'll PM you. Updater problems and usage - Bjorn - 04-29-2009 It did not work for me at first untill I found that it assumes my instalation of game is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\mods, whatever. While game was actually on other disc. It might be that there was some leftovers since i did had a version of game installed on default path some time ago. But I had deleted it long before starting to use updater. Also to note this was the issue with first or second update. Updater problems and usage - atom - 04-29-2009 Works fine on vista. For downloading mods, before using updater remember to right click on the file select properties and check the unblock and run as admin, this applies to all files for Discovery. Updater problems and usage - Recoup - 04-30-2009 Step 1. Installed 4.85 beta 4 via FLMM. Step 2. Updated to Beta 5 via DSUpdate. Step 3. Caused my game to not be able to run WITHOUT the mod ("Invalid username or password to login to the server", or some nonsense). Also could not log onto the FL 24/7 server because it was "48.25". Ran DSUpdate again, and it downgraded my game to 48.25. Step 4: Did a clean re-installation of Freelancer and FLMM. Step 5: Install 4.85 Beta 4 once more. Step 6: Attempted to update to Beta 5 via DSUpdate, but failed. Was missing, apparently, the files "DACOM.dll", which I promptly added. Then I am missing "zlib.dll", which I added also. Then I was missing "Movie.dll", which I could not find, so I gave up on DSUpdate. It was a failure. Step 7: Manually install Beta 5, which still doesn't work. Step 8: Re-install all programs - Freelancer and FLMM. Step 9: Install 4.85 Beta 4. Step 10: Skip DSUpdate and install Beta 5 manually. Game finally works. Updater problems and usage - Slainte - 04-30-2009 Im using Vista home premium 32 bit and the only hic-up i have is the same as Negligentbeast, cursor locks in top left corner. They way i free it is to minimise the screen using alt-yab and that frees it. They way i free it is to minimise the screen using alt-yab and that frees it.I've seen this too. (Running Vista Business 32bit here) I think it has something to do with DSUpdate.exe launching freelancer.exe after its done with its job, but not telling the OS to have freelancer.exe be the active program before terminating itself. As a result, freelancer appears to be the active program, but explorer.exe (or something else you have open) really is. Sometimes merely clicking the mouse will set things right, other times you need to use alt-tab like you said. Other than that, as long as I run DSUpdate as Administrator, everything works fine. |
