Actually, in this specific scenario, it was a miner 1/20 full of ores (as I had just gotten to the niob field) with 1.2 million credits on hand.

10 million was demanded.

I told him it was not possible to give him that, so instead of haggling, he just did what he came there to do: blow me up.

I've been pirated and killed for 2 mil when I only had 1.

Seems you must keep more cash on hand. Or more like, I had half my cargo after being pirated for it, 0 credits, and killed in the end.

Get an escort. Pay it after the first run. If no escort is available, don't mine/trade. I told that to you over skype already.

It's a shared ship. After every run, you're supposed to give half to the faction bank and half to the character you're raising the money for.

"Never do anything to make money" is essentially what you're suggesting, as there are never escorts available. Therefore, what you are saying is less than helpful.

Unless you are volunteering as an escort.

EDIT:

This thread is also not about how to avoid piracy, it's about what to do when someone demands an impossible amount so they can PvP you. Not the same. Get on topic or GTFO.

SS it each time, with proof that you don't have the cash, and then submit it as evidence of a pattern of PvP abuse. It falls under 1.2 if nothing else. PvP abuse at the least.

Pirating demands - DarthCloakedGuy - 11-23-2009

Thanks, Mwerte. I'll be sure to do that.

<strike>True, hire a freelancer or merc for escort, and he didint should to have a battle star battleship to protect you, just send him to recon lanes forward to you and reconing space around when your mining, he will warn you about danger and this is not so expencive.

P.s. work of escort is not to kill pirates, its to help trader to avoid them.</strike>

Try to pay your cargo to pirate, Screens.

Reasoning with the person, giving valid arguments is a good way as well:

"Do you really expect me to have the money before I sell the ore?"

"If you provide me protection from other pirates, I can easaly share the profit with you"

It is that easy, really. Done it myself atleast four times so far. Try doing so IRP first, if that fails, Pm the person oorp, if he ignores you...too bad for you, I guess.

You can't know if the trader is lying or not. ANd some of them surely do. From start "I dont have money" you eat most of their hull, ask second time, and puff* amiracle they have! Happened few times.

And now are you going to punish pirate who made reasonable demand but doesn't metagames abour rank? Or even if he pays a look to the rank, from 1m to 2m it isint quite huge diffrence. Sometimes you can't say if he has full sum or not.
