Fantastic work, Jinx!

Though, will the windows be transparent? I'm a big fan of the ones I can see through.

naturally it ll be transparent - that ll also make the whole massive "head" a lot lighter, cause 40% of it will be see through.

To me, that actually looks slightly Corsairesque... Slightly changing the shape of the canopy would probably go some way to dispelling that, seeing as it's currently shaped in the Corsair's bullhead icon from what I can see. Then there's the body in general which is reminding me a fair bit of the Legate or Praefect.

jinx, as the designer of the 'modern' zoner line i thought you would come up with something decent. im counting on that this was a 'fun' concept as you put it.

not that i would want to judge the competing designs, but this is nothing like the new zoner shipline.

moar curves plox?

its vaguely based on the eagle with a more sculptured bird head and without the very wide wings. instead it features a wider body all around along with a large single reactor drum on its back. i coloured the canopy, cause otherwise you d not be able to distinguish it from the hull.
Whoa that looks awesome. It also looks very big, especially from the front view, it almost looks Gunboat-Cruiser sized.

here is another concept - one that is more thought out... but wasn t really meant to be a virage replace. - actually it was meant to be a zoner design light fighter.

thats why its featuring the smoother zoner lines along with a very large canopy ( for a better view of the beautiful space )

While I like both designs and I think the above one is indeed more light fighter'ish.

Jinx, I like your model but I personally was expecting something more in line with your new fearless/corvo/gunboat models.

I really like the 'wings' on the gunboat.

Regardless, I like your presented model, but it leaves me wanting.

@Cheshire: This looks impressive:)

Do you think it's possible to add to that design to make it VHF'ish? (In terms of the rest of the ships size compared to the cockpit)

By the way... this LF design would be an awesome Zoner Scout / Interceptor...

Inspiration strikes! That or lightning.
Quote:SVL-22 "Volante" Civilian Light Fighter

Based on a proposed redesign of the popular but flawed Virage, the Volante's oversized, unobscured canopy grants you as full a view of the splendor of Sirius as is possible without jettisoning yourself. Its remarkable agility is more than enough to carry you safely through the beautiful crystalline asteroid fields of the deep Omicrons or volatile portions of the magnificent Crow Nebula, and its reliable Zoner-engineered drive system will keep working as long as it's still wired in.

It is a somewhat fragile ship, particularly near the cockpit, so caution is advised when flying in warzones. Among those who aren't regularly shot at, however, it has become immensely popular as a racer, mid-range explorer, or just a flashy way to get to and from work every day.

So yeah. Work off this for the Virage and you have the start of a new Zoner-produced civilian* shipline. I approve!

* Remember, guys, the Virage is made by Zoners, but a Civilian ship. I dunno about everyone else, but I would really like to see it stay that way.
