The Problem with Discovery's Economy - Unseelie - 08-05-2007 also, if you look at sirius, all of the so called pirate factions are nearly nations unto themselves... they are organized, send out patrols, and the house military just sits back, oh, and pirates should try pirating loot... do it in teams, with someone keeping a transport, so even if you kill him, you can still make a profit... agree with the statement that fighters can barely support themselves, but that's good, because it forces people to keep a trader, which is vulnerable to piracy... pirates dont need capships, they need coordination... The Problem with Discovery's Economy - Treewyrm - 08-05-2007 To me it's not about making money. You just need it to buy ships and support them. Speaking of piracy: a pirate catching me is something I have yet to see alive! If only they were just as organized as, for example, rheinland military, and just as _active_ (be online and not waste rounds in connecticut arena), well then perhaps it would have been fun. I don't want to have mission rewards equal trading runs, but they do need increase in my opinion, as well as higher level missions for coop. In my observation of the short time I've been playing here the issue is that there are not enough pirate players. But there are tons of traders running around almost on auto-pilot just sleeping for most of the way. The Problem with Discovery's Economy - Lt. Brown - 08-05-2007 There already are co-op missions. take those "8 osirus missions", for example. You're supposed to be in a BS, or have a wing of fellow fighters by your side on these missions. and, yes i know this is late The Problem with Discovery's Economy - Treewyrm - 08-05-2007 <sarcasm>Yea, sort of missions when you wait for nomad battleships to "bump" into primus/gammu along with their escort.</sarcasm> The Problem with Discovery's Economy - Lt. Brown - 08-05-2007 what? you're not making any sence! The Problem with Discovery's Economy - Akitoscorpio - 08-05-2007 You know maybe it's just me, but I'm not having a hard time trying to get money as a fighter, Mind you I never use missiles, and I restock my batteries and bots by looting ships I blow up, but normally on missions as high as 24, in my little POS dragon fighter, I come out rather far ahead. and I typically make around 100k a mission after Mission bonus and selling prisoners in the right places. The Problem with Discovery's Economy - Ascendancy - 08-05-2007 I honestly don't see a problem with Discovery's economy. In all reality, I have more money in my fighter than my large train. Why? Because it's not all too hard for me to take on the capital ships (I guess I'm a skilled very heavy fighter pilot, right?). Of course I don't take on Osiris class battleships, I take on Bounty Hunter Destroyers (equally hard in their own right when there is like 5-6 of them). Trading to earn those big bucks comes at the risk of piracy by the local pirates that run parallel to the trading routes and that's just the risk you have to put up with. Now yeah I'm on the server hours at a time, but I generally make my income from killing NPCs and selling the pilots at the battleship and selling the equipment that they drop as well. Sometimes I'll run to Cambridge Research Station to sell the Nomads that I'll occasionally pick up. But that's just me I suppose, always sharpening my skills in a fighter instead of trading 24/7... The Problem with Discovery's Economy - Lt. Brown - 08-05-2007 See! They do fine! proof fighter missions work as long as you fight to lvl :P The Problem with Discovery's Economy - Akitoscorpio - 08-05-2007 ' Wrote:See! They do fine! Well I sit in one system, where there's a bounty hunter station, do missions killing rats, take the pliots back once the mission is complete, and repeat... I got my bounty hunter's license in 2 hours doing that. The Problem with Discovery's Economy - Dopamino - 08-05-2007 im starting a trader only to have backup cash and maybe a cap ship a long way down the road. |
