I think you're fine. Some posters are getting way too technical... if you're friendly enough with the faction that you can dock and sell, do. Your plan sounds fine to me, go for it!
I know some new ships are being added in 4.84, but I haven't gotten around to seeing if any of them are appropriate for this sort of piracy: I'd love a ship halfway between the Turanic Raiders Freighter and the Spatial. It would be perfect for that sort of thing (as well as being ideal for my main character).
Adding a CD to the Raiders freighter sounds great to me too.
