Privateers! The story continues... - bluntpencil2001 - 01-25-2008 Right, I've been speaking to Fellow Hoodlum, and it does appear that the QCP are in a sticky situation with their RP and possible reports. I'm thinking about which I.D to use, and think that for the QCP, based in the Sigmas, they should maybe use Junker I.Ds or generic Pirate. Hopefully less reports come up. Any ships stationed in Bretonia, though, should keep BAF IDs. So, my bomber will be Junker or Pirate, with BAF tags, whereas my LF will be BAF IDed and tagged. Of course, then we'll have people bitching about being ooRP for flying a BAF ship and we'll get called Junkers in spite of our royal allegiances. Hmm. Maybe I could test it for a week or two and see what happens? Privateers! The story continues... - pchwang - 01-26-2008 Well, the thing is blunt, the ID system has some serious limitations. When I was thinking of what to do with one of my chars after you ignominiously expelled him from the SCRA...:( I realized that I could not really create a character in Disco like him. It just would not work. You are not the only person to toy with the "privateer." I tried to establish it in Liberty with the Liberty Revenue Cutter Corp, but could not find a justification for it. But, good luck with everything. Privateers! The story continues... - Unseelie - 01-26-2008 My opinion, is that we need Privateer Ids. yup. Quote:Owner of the Bretonian Privateer ID can demand funds or cargo only from forces aiding and/or abetting the enemies of the Crown Or some such. Privateers! The story continues... - pchwang - 01-26-2008 I think that we should get a general Privateer ID. That way, any of the factions could have one. Privateers! The story continues... - bluntpencil2001 - 01-26-2008 A Bretonian Privateer ID would be brilliant, but any sort of Privateer IDs would need to be controlled by the admins, as it is easily open for abuse. That and I'm somewhat selfish and don't want Kusari privateers stealing my thunder...:P Privateers! The story continues... - Unseelie - 01-26-2008 I think, only the Brets and the Kusari have need of a Privateer ID...though, some of the major companies could use privateers too....hmm.... But, a General Privateer Id rather defeats the point of a privateer as opposed to a pirate. Privateers! Well, I think I'll play the historical precedent card and say 'Look it's a largely British phenomenon!':P I guess I could see some companies doing it, although I'm not sure which ones. Hmm. Privateers! The story continues... - pchwang - 01-26-2008 Good point. We do need faction specific Privateer IDs. We also need to give them ship restrictions, e.g.) nothing above a gunboat. After all, privateers should not be as well funded as the actual armed forces. As for companies, I think that the Mercenary ID covers their needs. A privateer is really just a citizen fighting on his country's side for spoils of war. Privateers! The story continues... - bluntpencil2001 - 01-26-2008 ' Wrote:Good point. And yes, gunboat or smaller is great, although we do have some nice plans for a Royal Liner... Privateers!
