I went to the source, the rules...
"4.1 No characters are allowed to join more than 1 faction. Characters from one account can join different factions freely, unless faction policy specifies another rule for this, but no more than 2 system-owning factions at one time."
It -says- one account, but I'm thinking (always dangerous) that the rule was written before we could have multiple accounts.
I would still like to know what prompted the second part of the rule.

As I said we had a BIG discussion a few months back about this, and I think they edited the rule from saying 'one person' to 'one account'.

Personally, I think we should just scrap it. I mean, there's clan-spammage, but some people can't make FAM work or something. There are always going to be circumstances, and I'd rather just scrap it.

Frankly, Discovery has become so big now that it is nigh impossible. Especially with nearly all of the bigger factions owning systems, it's quite problematic to sanction half the server.
