Yes humble apologies Pirating again! - Asymptotic - 06-24-2008 drop it... Korrd made his ruling, I'll just make the 46m back Yes humble apologies Pirating again! - Robert.Fitzgerald - 06-24-2008 Meh, Akuma, the majority of traders are neutral/friendly with unlawful factions, so they'll often appear white on the HUD. A pirate neutral with the local authorities though? Sanctionable. I believe that is correct, that a neutral trader is allowed and a neutral pirate is not, we will see. It's like a lawful can kill a smuggler in a transport with a cap ship but a pirate can't kill a trader with a cap ship (excluding GB's). Yes humble apologies Pirating again! - Robert.Fitzgerald - 06-24-2008 Well, piracy in a capital ship is a bit silly, considering (gameplay) the overkill, and (roleplay) the meagre credits earned would not be sufficient for the crew nor for the ship's maintenance. For lawfuls, one would presume that battleships would be like the stationary ones: killing enemies of the House automatically (in this case, after a scan). I guess that isn't that roleplay-ish, either... Oh well. And how is killing smugglers in a cap ship different? And I disagree about maintenance costs on a cap ship. Pirating should cover those costs and then some. I see you added a point, it's not done that way, the people killing smugglers are doing it largely with cruisers. If that's allowed, why can't blood dragons kill traders going through chukogu? Even in cruisers? Doesn't it make sense that if I'm a blood dragon, even in a cruiser and I see some civilian trader in my secret space, I would vaporize him? Yes humble apologies Pirating again! - Robert.Fitzgerald - 06-24-2008 It makes sense, but the server rules forbid it, as it'd open up a "can of worms" so to speak. If the "home" systems for different factions had additional allowances, IE Chugoku allowing cruisers and above to engage traders, it'd be nice I reckon. But a blanket "all pirate ships can engage in piracy" rule might be a bit too much. Yes humble apologies Pirating again! - Akumabito - 06-24-2008 What would be better is just an across the board rule that no one, legal or pirate, can attack a transport with a cruiser or above. That's done for game balance and not RP, so it should go all ways. Yes humble apologies Pirating again! - Camtheman Of Freelancer4Ever - 06-24-2008 pirating in cruisers & bigger is just overkill and if your a trader, you either pay or die. their is no way out with a cruiser unless he doesnt have a train cruise disruptor of which many do. Yes humble apologies Pirating again! - Akumabito - 06-24-2008 Actually it's not any worse than pirating in a bomber with shield killers, a train CD, nuke mines and a supernova. I had a few traders escape when I used a GB, none have escaped the bomber.
