Traders/Smugglers ignore 4Hour rule?!?! - Bjorn - 07-11-2008 Well, i know that last two attempts to Pirate my trader ended up with dead pirate. I mean, "2mils or death"... Yea, sure, but what if i have trader that can defend? I fly royal liner, and i can take out sabre with average pilot behind it. So I cannot shoot even if I am able to respond on his fire? Traders are same as any other character at least how i see it. Yes, their ID says you cannot be killed unless you refuse to pay tax. But I believe that shooting pirate up is also valid. For instance, if dagger pilot stops Advanced train, should advanced train pay up 2mils to him? Or simply reject and fire back if pirate tries to kill him. Hence i see no real reason for not applying 4 hours rule. That made me laugh... and its the first time I take notice of your posts... The trader would be foolish if he did the route again, he is bound to loose yet another load and ship, how many can he have? I know for a fact that I only own 3 Whales, so if 2 of them would be destroyed I would dare to say that I would pay every price to keep the last one in 1 piece... My tip, there are sooo bloody many trade-routes out there that are worth taking, I've got 4 routes in my fingers that are double as good as the Niob-diamond / plute-deut runs and people are foolish to keep sticking to them. Traders/Smugglers ignore 4Hour rule?!?! - Grimly - 07-11-2008 I think this rule may be applied. Then, traders might pay more. (i always see traders who prefer be killed than pay 750k for a 5M cargo) Traders/Smugglers ignore 4Hour rule?!?! - Walker - 07-11-2008 erm What if a trader runs from you and docks? Traders/Smugglers ignore 4Hour rule?!?! - Junker Congress - 07-11-2008 I've had situations where opening fire on the engaging party has given me the window to cruise out. I generally avoid shooting as there's an RP opportunity in every such encounter, but if the other side is uncooperative and just looking to score a kill, I do defend myself until I can get away. Example: Liberty Navy Capwhore: DROP THOSE TANKS THERE'S AN EMBARGO Me: What, these? Fer personal use. Fights on Rochester're gettin rough. Me: Y'know, I had a lotta trouble gettin' past Atka, lotsa pirates. You guys should patrol the Rheinla-- Liberty Navy: YOU HAVE FIVE SECONDS DROP THEM NOW Me: ...y'know what? You need 'ta learn sympathy. I know a guy who knows a guy who can h-- BLAMBLAMBLAM Generally, with luck I can escape with some hull left. Question, though: Is this considered fleeing the engagement? Because while I'd stay off the lanes after such an encounter, I might not stay out of the system. Traders/Smugglers ignore 4Hour rule?!?! - tk9780 - 07-12-2008 Rather pointless a trader returning to a system awash with pirates, unless the trader spawned in that system, then may be theyd have pass the pirates to leave the system, that happened to me a few times, I just took off empty :)cargo-hold and found the nearest JG. Id seen many pirates returning a system after theyve been destroyed:angry:, on a few occasions had some pirates reengage in the :nono:same battle. I get the feeling some pirates dont consider death when engaging traders as a PvP kill. Sorry I mean Pirate / Authorities death at the hands of a trader / smuggler is counted as PvP kill? The rule needs changing; Death should hold a much high penalty for all  Traders/Smugglers ignore 4Hour rule?!?! - Stucuk - 07-12-2008 ' Wrote:I think this rule may be applied. If the rule applyed to traders they wouldn't pay more oftern, they would eather go down a different route, logon to a different character or do something else (As in not play freelancer). The rules for PVP imo are ment so that players can't just die then jump back into the same fight they were just in (If that happened fights would never end), as traders don't go around looking for fights and only defend themselfs, i don't see how if the rule applyed it would bring any benefits. Especialy how if a trader does go through a system again that he has died in, he may be more likley to pay pirates the next time (So he doesn't have to keep loosing money). |
