Illegal Lane Racing - Armageddon - 07-21-2008

Nice my mercenary would have a try at this, especially the black races.

A second possible idea, what about a transport race in one of the dense asteroid belts?

Illegal Lane Racing - MB52 - 07-21-2008

The cheetah I'd say shouldn't be allowed because only those aligned with the outcasts can buy it, giving them a potential advantage.

I don't think capships should be allowed, its just kinda silly to have cruisers and bbs racing around... transports could make an interesting special event, kinda like in the Paris Dakar rally, you have Bikes, Cars and the big Transport trucks racing.

Maybe there could be teams? Each team would have 1 LF 1 HF/VHF and 1 Transport for the mechanics and to race every now and then.

As for rules and types of race, I think it might be best to leave it open. So whoever challenges others to a race, could make up their own rules/track, as long as it is reasonable. There could even be Black matches where it goes until noone is left standing, or just one person lives.

I don't think this will be big enough for a faction, but definitely an un-official faction/group/team would work. Suppose we'd have a team representing most factions? heck even haulers like Bowex might sponser a team, if they advertise for them.

"Team universal is coming around the bend, but wait whos that? its team BOWEX! they are coming up fast, this is going to be tight one... BOWEX wins by a nose!"

BTW some people may think lane racing could be boring but there is skill in it, like speed docking and cutting corners to reduce time... ect.. in matches with weapons, mines can be useful too. (You go through the lane and JUST before your ship enters you drop a mine, it homes in on the lane and disrupts it just as you get through, blocking other racers, but launch it too soon and it blocks you too... Definitely a dirty trick.. but.. hey this isn't lawful)

BTW anyone have any thoughts what factions might be against this sort of thing? Obviously the military/police but what about say, the order? (they likely have better things to do) Or the BHG, sure this is breaking the law but the BHs often do this to make money, and there is a prize "bounty"

A definite yes, I'm in. Perhaps also, have some ships somewhere along the course to disrupt and shoot at racers... similar to what the Sandpeople were doing in the pod race in Star Wars - Episode One.

Here's more names:

[LRA] - Lane Racer's Association
[SLR] - Sirius Lane Racers
[URA] - Underground Racing Association
[RoS] - Racers of Sirius (just kidding, I couldn't resist it Lohingren) :P

More to come......

Illegal Lane Racing - Carlos_Benitez - 07-21-2008

"Calling all officers, this is <strike>Vice Point</strike> West Point.
Illegal <strike>street</strike> space racers, be warned, this is illegal and forbidden"
Love it.

Illegal Lane Racing - VincentFerrex - 07-21-2008

There's one thing that needs tending to though, regarding racers.

What ID to use?

There is no proper ID for a racer. And, civilian ones are out of the question. So, perhaps, trader IDs?

EDIT: Scratch the Trader ID. I think what we're looking for is the Freelancer ID.
