I think this is why definition of metagaming is a quite hard task to do.

If it's not clearly defined in the rules then it can't be in the rules.

If you think so then you can fly forever alone. Your life. Your boredom.

Long range scanners, there's your rp explanation.

God no. Saying "Long range scanners" inRP immediately shows you have no clue what RP is because such a thing doesn't exist. You don't have to say anything about how you found a certain player, using the player list was always within the rules.

RE: Definition of metagaming - Lythrilux - 03-27-2016

Honestly it's WORSE when players try to explain it inRP. Just leave it at "yeah, we used the player list to find an interaction". It just opens a can of worms when people try to make RP sense of it, and you get the wrong sort of people rushing in to hop into that argument who are begging for an excuse to begin with.

Tell me more about how I can't use long range scanners in a system under full control of my faction including entrances.

What if it was cloaked ship?

RE: Definition of metagaming - Antonio - 03-27-2016

@Thyrzul Then it's local patrols or a station that found the ship and contacted you if you really want to go full RP, not "long range scanners".

Maybe changing the SYSTEM column in the "Y" window for showing the HOUSE name would be better. Everyone will can see in what house there are action, but they MUST check it by theyself. Like real patrols... Its so easy to see someone in a specific System, shout in group "...look who is in XXXXX system! lets go there" and bad things happens.

Changing the system name for the house name would fix this without removing the capability to know where are more action around (events, battles...)

Good points, I suppose i started debate with previous thread. I think if we chagne definition as it is now we will `kill an elephant for a single steak` and that is not helpfull and dozen of people made here same remark already.

As Syndrom said figuratively dont overdo it. Metagaming or not, punishable or not, it is still poor RP, and thats most important. Let us make RP good one.

Meta-Gaming, is moving information from a character to another outside of role play
I see it that simple and clear

Edit: Wrong account, this is @Xenon
