Talking heads - Athenian - 03-24-2009 How about when you buy a new capship the lady's voice is replaced with someone saying "You capwhore" Talking heads - Cellulanus - 03-24-2009 How about instead we get a bunch of sound alikes to patch up the holes in the audio, so no more "This is . . . . . . . Omega 2, I'm on a trade mission from . . . . , I'm carrying . . . . . . To . . . . . . . ." Talking heads - tazuras - 03-24-2009 Yeah, but the voices will never quite match, might as well re-do all the voice acting. Talking heads - MarvinCZ - 03-24-2009 The heads in the comm windows aren't just animations. Those are 3d models of heads ... You would need to create an NPC head then assign it to those scenes. I'm not sure where exactly the NPCs for mission officers are defined, but I'm pretty sure we would be able to change this. Just retexturing an existing head might work well enough, if you find a head that fits the person enough. If anyone wants to try it, I can send you screenshots of all the heads in FL, others know how to retexture this stuff. Edit: I think I found where the folks saying this are defined for all the factions. They could be easily changed to factionalised NPCs with a bit of work. As far as I'm aware, the "mission commander" is a universal person with no difference for factions. Without source code, I don't believe we can factionalize him, even if we can change his voice/make him a girl/robot/ape. About the "This is Alpha 5 out of...... heading to......." even on the vanilla ones it's abrupt and weird sounding, so it wouldn't be that bad if we just added links for the new areas. It would, however, possibly skyrocket the mod size- you need several pronunciations of each new field, base, faction, etc... Then it would just sound that the connection is bad. The mission commander seems to be common to all, but can the dialogue be made factionalized? Also replacing the mission commander with a new one would do good. Talking heads - Guest - 03-25-2009 There's a problem with this... What about players with French, or German version of the game? EDIT: I'm surprised no one proposed ''This is Xeno ----YEEEHAAAAW!'' Talking heads - tansytansey - 03-30-2009 Don't mean to get anyones hopes up, but Kuraine did ask me if I'd be open to the possibility of doing some voice acting. Not that I have an interesting accent or anything. As for the missing NPC voices for non-vanilla names, it might be possible to match the current voicesclosely by modifying the pitch and timbre of the voice files. That's deffinately something that would be a great addition to the mod. Talking heads - Dashiell - 03-30-2009 pretty cool idea. Should be pretty hilarious at times. I`m willing to do some german voice acting if need be. also, using avatars as in-game pictures would be cool.
