RE: RM/RP/MND+OS&C vs LWB/Alliance | Precarious Sightseeing | Sun Nov 12, 7PM UTC - Barrier - 11-14-2023 The dinner on board the OS&C Sylt was a scrumptious affair, with all the local elite enjoying their meals as they observed a massive planetary storm over the vast ocean of Baden Baden. However, the staff were not expecting a last-minute influx of guests, all of whom were of course, uninvited. With the escorts kept busy by the Alliance strike team, the Frigate Esslingen rapidly closed the distance, and launched three sets of boarding teams via jury-rigged escape pods. While team Beta had some trouble getting to the liner, teams teams Alpha and Gamma rapidly breached at two airlocks amidships, and proceeded directly to secure the bridge and the engineering deck. With the crew of the liner barely prepared for the intensity of the assault amid general signal jamming, any resistance was swiftly eliminated, with most enlisted crew simply surrendering without firing a single shot. The Alliance marines, wasting no additional time, secured the lavish dining hall, and began shuffling the VIPs back to the Esslingen. The two ships were close enough to leap across, though this was not necessary to start with due to a flexible airlock affixed by the marines. Meanwhile, the combined patrol of military and MND vessels from Wesfalen has arrived in space to respond to the distress call gotten off by the Sylt before boarding. Seeing only one ship capable of threatening the liner's integrity, the team leader immediately focused the firepower on this vessel, quickly dispatching the bomber. Without the obvious threat to the liner in sight, the rest of the patrol focused on individual targets, quickly turning the tables on the now outnumbered strike team. The Esslingen's captain, seeing that time was running out, gave the order to abort, and began preparing to thrust away. The rest of the Alliance strike force were already abandoning their damaged vessels for the safety of the frigate, though not all of the pilots managed to hone in on its signal, and were left adrift in space. The Alliance suffered another setback - after the first set of marines leaped back to the Esslingen with their captives in tow, the Sylt suddenly began maneuvering, leaving more than half of the boarding team stranded on board the liner. While a few brave souls still decided to make the leap, the rest of the team promptly dusted off their assigned VIPs and sequestered themselves in the passenger quarters. With the enraged civilians threatening the crew if they were not taken off the Liner right that moment, an orderly sweep of the interior for stowaways was out of the question. The Esslingen proceeded to Darmstadt under thrust, with the combined lawful patrol letting it go as it focused on mopping up the perimeter. After a full headcount aboard the Sylt, a full 166 individuals were unaccounted for, and are presumed to be in Alliance custody at Darmstadt. The few captured pilots and marines of the strike force are sure to face extensive interrogation before being but on an express one-way transport to Mecklenburg. However, over half of the team which did not make it to the Esslingen eventually managed to find their way back to Darmstadt, posing as crew, valets, and in one case a personal trainer to an elderly OS&C executive who slept through the assault. The OS&C has already made a formal commendation to an engineering apprentice wishing to remain anonymous, while also opening an inquiry into the disastrous security response that resulted in the capture of members from multiple influential families in Stuttgart. |
