Wobbly, if only GBs and below could attack it, then how could we mount offensive tactics upon enemies if they had these. They could just make a fleet of these, and I'm in my BS, and I couldn't shoot at them. I support Tank's idea, except the prison liner should have more armor, it's liberty police, and should be a lot harder to kill.

Final version of new rules - marauder - 02-23-2007

You know, this is why I'm giving up on this community.

Transports, including liners, shouldn't be able to fly around without escorts, which would increase the RP, pirates would need to have large groups to even thinking of taking on a liner and it's escorts.

After all, why do you think theres always orbital spa and cruise starflyers/hawks flying aroudn them?

However, all you guys want is a cheap, agile capship. All your doing is throwing out excuses to keep weapons they have no need for.

Final version of new rules - TankTarget - 02-23-2007

Well Marauder that sounds an awful lot like flaming...I would prefer that Liners have transport shields and weapons but no one else is going for that so I and others are proposing something you may know as a compromise...

You know think before you speak Marauder go ahead and give up if you are going to judge the entire community based on the actions of few.

As I said I would actually be happy if the things were removed altogether. But no people like you think that you can come and judge everyone however you want...

Well, Marauder, this can easily be solve by allowing only the Spa And Cruise ID's allowed to use liners and Police only allowed to use Prison ships. It would have have to be strict rule enforcing of this though.

Also, Tank, I postd 4-5 for the LUx liner and 3-4 for the Prison liner because right now, the weapons are 11 for the Lux and 9 for the prison. I was just making comments according to the current loadouts.

But what about my liner? Civilians, or rich crime lords, have legitimate reasons fro using them, and militaries have goo reasons for the prison ships, we had one in the SCRA for quite awhile. Militaries take prisoners too, as do pirates.

Final version of new rules - Dab - 02-23-2007

The pirates wouldn't have a police-made prison liner though.. And crime lords would have a cruiser outfitted to provide luxury and defense. Liners would be for the excessively rich civilians. They shouldn't have the firepower we credit them with, but neither should they be extremely weak transports. They ARE more than transports. They transport important people. And passengers. Meaning extra defense with lower cargo capacity, and larger size. Lux liner should, as QV said, have 5 or so gunboat turrets (I think 6), and the prison liner should have MORE gunboat turrets than the Luxury Liner, as its meant to fight off pirates, and hold dangerous felons. Prison liner has 2 turrets less, but it should have those turrets be higher-classed.

Remember, there is allways the chance of haveing the prisoners revolt on a Prison ship and taking it over, as well as having a pirate raid on a Lux Liner and them killing everyone and taking it over. PIrates RARELY use cruisers and battleships, but I would think that if they got something like a luxlinner and using it as a makeshift combat vessel. Remember, Pirates are usually poor and dont have the reasourses for larger ships.

Something for everyone to keep in mind...

Guys, also take the time to realize that everyone here has independent imaginations. Everyone's suggestions are great, but try not to be so definite on everything, because you can't tell someone how to RP.

@ QV: Totally right. Poorly funded terrorists like the Xenos may have to rely on quasi-capships, like the prison liner or the lux liner. At your other post, maybe we should make a new ship called: The Liner, that other people who want to fly can use. Obviously, it would have different stats.

@ Dab: If I had a crimelord char, I would probably use something heavier than a luxury liner, but I guess if Koolmo wants to use a liner, then that is up to him.

I do agree that prison liners should be more powerful than lux liners.

That depends, if it's like the Liberty Rogues, then yeah they'd be poor as hell, but if its like the Outcasts or the Corsairs, they are pretty rich, it depends on the success of the pirate group really.. and not many Prison ships are captured... they are usually guarded pretty well, they wouldn't be easy to steal, Luxury lines are pretty much the same... they should IMHO, be much worse armed than the Prison liners, but have a bit more cargo space.

And I agree with Marauder, these things should NOT be good in fights, kind of like a big train type thing, more hull, less cargo space, more guns, if a Liner attacks and it has no escourt, it should be a fairly simple target. The only way to defend yourself IS to get somebody else to fight for you. Neither Lux liners or Prison ships should be able to fight off even a gunboat (My opinion again).

Final version of new rules - Nightfall - 02-23-2007

Gezza's right, the Ampoliros is an Outcast Dread, no matter Nightfall calls her his private or pleasure yacht, it still is a big a$$ Outcast Dread.

Anyway, a Liner (any type) should NOT wander the sector without escorts.

ATM, the liner is as agile as an Armored Transport, if not more. It should have TRANSPORT weaps and TRANSPORT shields as it is a TRANSPORT vessel. There is something called ESCORTS and it should have at least a wing of those if you really want to RP, not just use it as a cop-out.

I consider the lone Liner-flyers out there totally non-RP.
