Freelancer ship development - legeonation - 03-15-2007 Here's a quick update of the WIP of the Stinger fighter/bomber ect. I've added on some reverse wings I thought they gave the ship model some more personality. As of right now I'm laying down the rough metal texture for the body of the ship the cockpit is just about done need to add a little more detail. Freelancer ship development - McNeo - 03-15-2007 I love that model, it looks so sharp! definately a pirate bomber in my eyes; good work legionantion:). I especially like how it looks from the front...the air force should hire you for designing new aircraft:D. Freelancer ship development - Korrd - 03-15-2007 Nice ship. But the wings... Shouldn't a spacecraft have no wings? It looks more like a plane than a space fighter.. Freelancer ship development - BestFlyerHere - 03-15-2007 Reminds me of a Ravenclaw... but really really really nice. Freelancer ship development - AlexPaladinStorm - 03-17-2007 ' Wrote:Nice ship. But the wings... Shouldn't a spacecraft have no wings? The earlier discussion on wings was already made. Which brings to mind things like Dagger: Should the wings be cut off, with the guns mounted internally? Or, Corsair fighters: Cut the wings and the fins off? How about StarLancer fighters. The Coyote had a similar look to this craft here, actually. Saying the Coyote's wings should have been chopped off? Or maybe the Shroud's? Think the Mirage or Tempest should be chopped up? Defender doesn't need those big wings on the sides. Dump them and slap the guns onto the main body. Is that it? This game world loves it's wings. Can't just do away with them. Where would you have the cool contrails?! EDIT: Some adjustment may or may not be needed, though. Thicken the wings- make them bulkier like in-game wings and such (the aforementioned Dagger and Defender have thick wings that don't quite look aerodynamic, but still are kinda wings, and there's also the Crusader's little wings, and, of course, the Drake and the Dragon have those big fan-like wings), or have them connect to wingtip fins or such. I'm not sure right now. Take some clues from the Pirate ships, maybe. Honestly, I think the Bloodhound and Wolfhound are ugly SoB's (heh.. well, they /are/ named after dogs). The Mule isn't too bad-looking, though. Freelancer ship development - legeonation - 03-20-2007 Here's a texture update. There's still more to do. Such as color, wings/fins engines, decals ect. Freelancer ship development - Qunitinius~Verginix - 03-20-2007 I like it! It looks pretty sweet and does fit with the Freelancer story. Reminds me of the Raven Claw/slipstream line of ships. Keep Up the Good Work mate. Verginix Out Freelancer ship development - legeonation - 03-21-2007 I've been looking though a few of the freelancer ship CMP files and I got my first few of the RavenClaw. The Stinger does have several simiarites but the Stinger model is original. The texturing should be done by tonight or tommorrow. Just need to nail down a few more textures and UV maps and it should be up and running. Freelancer ship development - Mack - 03-21-2007 About the wings... Yeah sure you dont need wings because there is no air in space but at the same time if you say i dont put wings then you can also go and say there is no friction in space so why have a shape at all ? In space, theoricaly, a sphere would be the best design but between you and me who wants to fly a sphere huh ? so it's more a matter of how you would like it to look than how realistic it you want it to be in my mind. I say keep the wings ! Freelancer ship development - Deimenried - 03-21-2007 I've been following this quite closely, and must say that it is looking absoultely fantastic! :D Glad the wings made it since the last WIP update. They give the ship good definition, and as Mack pointed out, a sphere would be best, but I sure wouldn't want one. Sharp, sleek and a sense of power is what its all about. Intimidate your enemy... then annihilate them. Great work! I'm loving this  |
