Don't worry, Bacon, you were right, people are conveniently omitting that The Order isn't based off of Spain.

Well, it could be taken from two points.

We have Toledo in the US. It makes sense from the thought that Toledo is in the US and the Order was based from Liberty. They would use an American city name. This is what I have always assumed.

On the other hand, there is Toledo in Spain. Looking at Wikipedia, if was the sight of a massacre, which would fit the theme that the Order is basing their names off of stuff that involves death.

But, unless we get the person who programmed that name in here, we'll never really know.

I would concur with the Former of the answers, stating that the name derives from USA Toledo.

And in all respects Liberty could in itself....( As The United States is now...)
be a motley assortment of ALL NATIONS.

For one reason or another...Everyone has deemed Liberty,
well essentially " White mans Land."

By this of course, I mean that following the terms of the whole Exodus from Sirius. Sleeper ships named the Bretonia, the Rheinland, Kusari, and the Liberty. on top of the other sleeper ships.

Each came from a Particular part of the world ( Why our "alliance" would all build ships with "segregated" crews/sleepers is beyond me.)

So in the point I'm making is,
Perhaps the programmer researched BOTH events, Spain and USA. And in his infinite wisdom deemed both events/ locations perfect examples of Massacres and deaths.

In My own Opinion(slightly off topic): I don't understand why each nation fits only one archetype. Modern day society, and More likely than not, in future's society. All of our nations will harbor countless multiples of people from other nations.

Sort of like that guy with the "Accent/skin tone" that you know is from somewhere else, and you see him/her at School/work/stores/parties.

ya know?
eh, I don't know.
Maybe in the future we all become completely isolated from eachother, and then form a random alliance but don't work together so we all keep our own "Culture." Get raped by commies and then build tons of giant ships as we sit there like "Shiz dude....Those commies work good in a team eh?"

Toledo is in Portugal, according to Empire Earth 1 demo.

I was thinking the same thing myself. I actually have two swords that I bought in Toledo, Spain during a class trip there. In fact, I'll bet you 5 credits that I'm the only person here who's actually been to both Toledos. (The one in Spain is nicer, by the way)

As for the whole Egyptian thing and the Order, the Vanilla materials didn't really give us much to work off at all. The Osiris was probably named by the Liberty Navy engineers who built it, and as for the Anubis, I'm not really sure. Still, the Egyptian theme is a nice touch, and I rather like it.

Egypt was a Coalition member state, what with the Ramses. The Order are ours.

Coalition or not..

Corsairs arent only spanish. Its actually the group of all medditeran nations. Like Tripoly shipyard is in Lybia (Coalition anyone?)

Now what touches Order. Yes, I spotted that they are focused on death thame long before I came on multiplayer, and to give name bastet to fighter, doesn't have much in comon. But the problem rises, becouse Egyptionas didn't have so much death related gods.

Anubis - god of embalmment. The one who accompany the dead to the osiris hall.
Nephthys - god of desert, night and death.
Osiris - underworlds ruler, the one who judges.

And... well there is one left. Ammut. The beast who eats the ones who were jugded by Osiris to be eaten.

But we simply ran out of names ..

The last Inquisition/Order crossover: Can be found here.

With regard to the death motif in the Order; I always thought it was a metaphor for becoming a part of the Order. You "die" to the surface world, and live in "death" among the Order. In Egyptian, Pharaoic, belief death was the first step on the next journey. A dead person would be surrounded with tools and gifts. The tools were for making a new life in the world of death, the gifts were for the others they met.
