There's nothing OORP about making an EFL character. In fact, I applaud you for doing it, I'm too afraid of random bugs and NPC's with SNACs.
In fact, I've only been to Gallia once, on my Gaian, to denounce terraforming... and I got chased out by some Royal Navy folks...

as for trade routes just change routes as for a house running on oil for superluminla flight it akes no sense logisticvally or otherwise because oil simply cant do what it does in galia ,were talking about useing a coal ship and a nuculer carrier the CVN would be long gone the coal ship 4k miles away if that before being refueld

Gallia is just hardcore...
As the applications for GRN opened up, I knew that if I had to join a military faction, the Gallic Royal Navy would be the one. After filling the application, I jumped into my new character and took a trip to Gallia. In a starflea.
Needless to say, hours and hours of frustration followed, trying to figure out how to gain a good standing with the GRN npcs, and getting my dumb little fighter blown up every 5 minutes by some random patrol.
Today, I'm not getting shot at by them anymore, since I gained a neutral standing, so I feel extremely happy (though I still need to raise my rep). All that suffering made it feel like a bigger accomplishment. :D

The house is worthwhile right now for one official faction and several unofficial factions to exist inside of it. If you don't like it now, I honestly doubt you will with .86.

Gallia is...well hard core.
It's totally workable and playable in terms of difficulty and what not.
Sure they have bomber swarms...but any lawful base has just an unbelievable amount of defenses, and you can always fall back there.
On a note, Gallia is almost all Heavy Fighters in terms of combat...not VHF.
Meaning in general, more work is required to fly them... but they have a fantastic mix of agility and power.
Big ships however, are in trouble if they go off the beaten path and into bomber land.
regarding the first post.
Gallic NPCs were said to be re-balanced recently. However they do seem to swarm still.
Hopefully they are a bit easier to down though...those level 18 Light Fighters that constantly regen are just the tip of the iceberg. I mount a sunslayer torp on my Corse ship...gets rid of the NPCs faster.
But for tradeships, I dunno what to say...avoid the jump holes and hurry to nearby stations...?
