Yeah, I can just imagine the Emperor calling his loyal bodyguard a dog.
A pet name or an insult? Hard to tell. I feel that their enemies would insult this fanatical, near-animal loyalty on a regular basis.

Well, you could always try shift the whole faction in as the Emperor's guard or such like.
True, different from the original proposal, but probably more likely to fit.

Anyway, you might be right, but who is to say that they shouldn't have a different flavour here than in your other server? Disco does have a unique feel, so maybe playing a bit different here might be fun.

WEll, you could make a new tag for this server.
Let's say your were the Imperial Guard, the Emperor's wardens. And hypothetically speaking, let's say the KNF let you join. A tag like..
KNF-[IG]

The KNF have very impressive roleplay too, and are a friendly bunch.
I fly against them as my Privateer on occasion and they are very fair and sporting.
