Pirating, amount of money - SevereTrinity - 06-27-2008 Well, its annoying, when, you fine Smugglers, they choose to die.... I see 5000 cardi sold on Manhattan.... The conversaation goes like this: 'Me: Ah.... Sir, I seem to be picking up traces of Cardamine left in your hull, and I have evidence of 5000 metric tons which were residing there a few minutes ago, that would be a 4 million fine sir' Smuggler: 'Kill me!' Me in private: '// Nice RP there mate, try to keep your guy alive, remember, inRP, you don't constantly respawn' Pirating, amount of money - Kuraine - 06-27-2008 Occasionally the Golden Chrysanthemums demand cargo, but few traders are ever really prepared to drop it. If you are caught in Chugoku or Hokkaido with diamonds or niobium, you can be expected to be demanded to either pay a fine almost equal to what your cargo is worth at your destination or drop your entire cargo, as a rule. If you are caught in any Kusari system other than Chugoku or Hokkaido, then generally speaking you will only get 2-3 million demanded, or half your cargo. Quote:I work for Interspace which conceivably would set such a corporate policy (especially since they don't compensate me personally when I am pirated on company business), and perhaps the pirate won't bother with a ridiculous demand next time. You'll find that if you have an Interspace Commerce ID AND tag, then the Golden Chrysanthemums will not pirate or attack you in any way, and even protect you from criminals/pirates and escort you to wherever you need to go in Kusari, unless you are carrying allied pilots, slaves, diamonds, niobium, military vehicles or artifacts. Then we'll insist you hand them over (freeing the slaves and allied pilots, but destroying the military vehicles, diamonds, niobium and artifacts), and allow you to go on your way. If you have a Zoner ID and tag or Synth Food ID and tag, then we ask for 500,000 credits unless you are blatantly shipping goods to Kyoto or Ainu, in which case you'll be escorted and allowed free passage. If you only have the Zoner ID but not the tag, we don't consider you to be a proper Zoner and thus you get hit with the full 2 million. But yeah, at the end of the day I don't have a problem with people demanding x amount of money unless there's a reason behind it, although I don't think anyone should really demand more than 6-7 mil for a single trade run. I sometimes offer a deal with traders to get off being pirated for two weeks for 50 mil, or 10 mil for the day etc though. Pirating, amount of money - Asymptotic - 06-27-2008 his point is that you should *try* and kill him, I think, and he's gambling with his life. Pirating, amount of money - Othman - 06-27-2008 I tend to be greedy and highly aggressive on my Unioner character. And he is yet vengeful enough to penalize shippers voyaging between Liberty and Rheinland. So, beware high levels. Pirating, amount of money - mwerte - 06-27-2008 you know, I was thinking about this in my head all day and I came to a conclusion. Jinx, I respect your position, but it's wrong. Pirates don't have artifical limits placed on them (Server rules or your notions of de-inflating the money). IRL they attack a ship, take as much cargo they can carry, all the coins they can find, destroy the the mast/sails/engines and if the crew is lucky they are killed. if not they are taken as slaves or just...left to drift and die of dehydration. Pirates are too nice (as per server rules and the fact that this is a GAME) but there shouldn't be a "you can't tax too much" (with the exception of terrorist demands) philosophy. It just occurred to me that pirating just money , is not real pirating . Its more like extortion , ''Give me money or I destroy your vessel '' smacks of ''Give me your lunch money or I'll bash you '' . I have no pirate chars.....yet  , but the basic transfer money , ''on your way, trader''... seems , I don't know .....dull ? Pirates out there , is it ? PLEASE NOTE : This is just a thought that popped into my head while reading this , I'm not trying to change the world here !! Pirating, amount of money - Othman - 06-27-2008 You need to demand something. Either credits or any valuable cargo you see reasonable to ask for. The harassment part defines how much both sides tend to roleplay the action or just get away with the consequential results of pirating and being pirated. Pirating, amount of money - MB52 - 06-27-2008 Yeah, it is dull only taking money. Cargo is where it is at if you want to be a real pirate. Pirating, amount of money - mwerte - 06-27-2008 It smacks of bullying because it is. If I had a base where I could sell cargo for a decent amount, and I could carry a decent amount of cargo, I would pirate for that. but since I don't have either.... Pirating, amount of money - Scaramanga - 06-27-2008 I think Jinx have a point... But... If a trader with 5000 diamonds travels without protection in a hostile area... Then thats "Bingo!" for the pirate. I dont think the problem is that pirates "tax" to high in most of the cases. Traders making lets say, Dia-nio-runs. Should hire mercs for protection. Its sad the normal response when a merc offers his service is : "No thank you, no pirates online right now" And if there are, they just hire some BH to hunt them down.. Traders! Hire mercs now!:P Better for the RP and it makes trading more fun.. for all of us. |
