Authority of Independents - Tenacity - 10-09-2008 Quote:The problem happens when respect is not shown both ways. Explain where this is an issue. I'm not discounting that it isnt, but I want to know what factions have that problem. Up until very recently, there has been nothing but respect between black squadron and order independents. That's one of the reasons the group has kept so 'clean', we have very few pvp whores or bad RP'ers that wield an order ID. I dont know what incited the change, but out of nowhere within the past 2-3 weeks there have been indy osiris battleships coming out of -nowhere-. No forum RP, no forum account on most of them, little to no in-game RP. It was fine one second, then *bam* osirises all over the place. These osiris players, rather than respecting past RP of both black squadron and order independents, decided to raise hell wherever they went, primarily in new york - which as everyone here knows is already a cesspit of OORP behavior; the last thing it needs is more capwhoring, pvpwhoring, oorpwhoring elements added to the mix. So, in reaction to these players who have completely overturned the reputation of the order in the course of two to three weeks, black squadron and the order independents who work with them (I am not the only one, believe it or not) have started to take action against these players to try and 'clean up the mess'. We've tried reasoning with them in-game, that didnt work. We've tried to catch them breaking server rules for sanctions, that didnt work. Now we're left with only one choice, and that's forcing them to come up with forum RP to explain their use of the ships they own. If they cannot do that, we'll have to take forceful action against them in-game to deal with the situation, that's the only path left. A few of us try to handle a situation gone bad, and suddenly we're faced with page upon page upon page of threats, arguments, insults, flames, and crying from every corner of these forums as everyone with an inkling of anti-factionist behavior comes out of the woodwork to throw things into chaos. I'm sorry, but if you are not directly a part of the situation we're trying to resolve, stay the hell out of it. You dont belong, most of the people who have decided to pitch in their "opinions" on the situation do not belong either. Simply put, you dont have the details, you dont know what's going on, and you havent had to deal with the hassle of trying to control people who are giving your faction, or affiliation in general, a bad name because they dont know how to restrain themselves. If they did not break server rules then what is the problem? You sound as if you were stalking their every move because they did something which you personally did not like. If you want to take "in-game action" then it would be hypocritical not to expect and "in-game action" in response. Namely, the TO. Find the threats made in this thread. I am an order player. I have said so. Also, I am going to be upgrading, most likely to Jinx's Destroyer/BC. Frankly, I do not see the need to write something up to fly that ship, because I am not going to be going around whoring. (Something that you claim you and the Bs| will do to those who do not bow down to the iron fist.) So yes Tenacity. It concerns me. Authority of Independents - Tenacity - 10-09-2008 and why do you have such an aversion to making a few forum posts regarding your character's background and the ship he's commanding? Honestly, you're spending this much time arguing with people on the forums over -nothing-, what is so hard about putting your time here to more constructive use by writing up a bio? You dont have to be an award winning author for ****'s sake, just put some effort into it. Authority of Independents - n00bl3t - 10-09-2008 ' Wrote:and why do you have such an aversion to making a few forum posts regarding your character's background and the ship he's commanding? Simply put, no time. I do write up bio's. I am working on The Retriever, Jeffrey and then another project for the ESS. I just do not have the time, and I do not want my game-play to be penalised for it, or me to have to wait to only fly my ship after I post my biography and have it ratified. All this time I am on the forums I am writing on word as well. Authority of Independents - Tenacity - 10-09-2008 ' Wrote:Simply put, no time. If you ego can't take the fact that someone who didn't work up the ranks like you did, you in for a real surprise when you walk out of your room into real life. YUS. Elgato ftw. Anyway, about the vote, said yes... since there are a "million" rules. If an indy does smth wrong, and there are quite some report-happy people... you don`t need factions to restrict their lack of rp. A sanction will do the trick... This whole... cap registry charade and "buhuhuu pay 100 mil to get our cap" is stupid. It`s freelancer, not freeCLANlancer. You don`t like caps? Very well, don`t get one. But don`t force others to follow your rules because you don`t like it. It`s stupid imo. "uuh too many caps in a fight" - wait to blast eachother then you go in... there are caps in the mod, people will use them. tbh, i don`t care about any kind of restrictions, since i don`t follow player rules... sorry but that`s just me. My 2... cents. ' Wrote:I dont know what incited the change, but out of nowhere within the past 2-3 weeks there have been indy osiris battleships coming out of -nowhere-. We all were new to RP. Don`t try to rule over them, either explain them what RP means, or just report. If I have a battleship, that means it`s bad, a sin. If you have a battleship, don`t get it in battle, because you buy it to just.. stare at it. IMO forum rp is worthless, play the game for fun, RP ingame. We`re not all born with writing skills, and personally, I hate writing. Nobody reads forum RP stories anyway. It`s a game. And this game haves caps, and guns. RP gets dull at a time if you don`t shoot something from time to time. I don`t encourage the lack of RP here; I do encourage however the fact that you should be less restrictive, and to stop trying to make everything work after your rules. And I don`t mean just you, Tenacity. You prolly have time to respond to me 20 times over, and I personally hate to disguise spam as meaningful discussion. A friendly advice: get a life, before`s too late. I didn`t tried to offend you, I just wrote what I think. Everybody wants that everything will favor them, hell, I`d like to be like 100 bombers to down a bs, but hey... I learned to let go some things. I can`t say I`m a model to be followed either, but let`s make it fair for everyone. If they feel like getting a bunch of Osirises in NY, let the LN to blast them apart. oorp chat? Fill a report. Don`t try to make everyone else stop flying Osirises because you don`t like how a bunch of people use them. People won`t listen, we`re all "programmed" to be stubborn. Prolly you`ll respond and write that I`m wrong all over the place, personally, I don`t care. Sorry for the long post people:P Authority of Independents - Baltar - 10-10-2008 ' Wrote:Thank you, your negativity is noted. Um ... ok. This poll is not about Indies vs. Factions. Never said anything about indies taking over. This is whether the indies can enforce the faction rules on others outside the faction ... in other words ... a guy with a Liberty Navy ID can enforce Liberty law on a Liberty Rogue even though the guy with the Liberty Navy ID is not a member of [LN]. ' Wrote:I have no currently factionalized characters, and I voted no. Are you saying indies cannot enforce the laws of the official faction? Like an indie Order in Bs| space? This poll is about whether indies can enforce the laws of the official faction as if they were part of the faction itself. You have always advocated this point ... that your indie Order can enforce the laws of Omicron 100. And indie Liberty Navy, LSF and LPI have advocated similarly. I'm curious as to why you disagree with yourself here. Authority of Independents - Zygoeths - 10-10-2008 I vote for yes..... my god people, you treat someone like slim in the SAME faction, or the SAME group who isn't in a player made guide/faction..... makes no sense. When i mean people i don't mean EVERYONE, i mean some. Authority of Independents - Titan - 10-10-2008 Did not bother to read entire thread as it's probably mostly flames, so I'll just answer you directly, I voted yes, because I think that they should have the same authority when it comes to enforcing laws, I also believe that an indie that has RPed for a while, and has been also recognized by the faction can earn himself quite a high rank. Anyone can come around and claim, hey I'm a general bla bla, but unless they manage to RP it properly, they'll probably be ignored or expelled by the main faction in the area. Its all based on the respect we can give to each other, faction to indie and indie to faction. Yes there are some...biased opinions in factions towards the indies when they first appear with their big ship or whatnot usually, but, if the person can RP it effectively, mainly referring to Xing or Gafwmn here, then the person can be recognized as an authority figured even within that faction. There are indies that can order LN about, but the main point here is that, indies have to prove themselves to factions, while its not necessary for the factions to prove themselves to indies. I'm not saying I support this, I'm just saying it is like that. And if both parties accept that and respect each other, it can all turn out well. Unfortunately you get factions whining that indies are cap whores, and you get indies whining that factions are absolute ruler whores or whatnot. And with that you lose the respect, you become more biased, and all hell breaks loose. Anyway, hope you got my point, if you have any questions, i'll be willing to clarify:P |
