The overwhelming majority of Discovery players (and Freelancer players in general) are now, and always have been, from the West. In East Asia, Japanese war crimes are incredibly taboo while German (not to mention Russian and Allied) war crimes are constantly made light of or generally seen to not remotely be a big deal, just as @Laura C. commented will likely be the case in the West in another 50 years or so. Whether that's okay as a policy guide or even as a cultural attitude is another discussion entirely, but if you want the real reason that "Kempeitai" (and even "Freikorps", or Lenin references on the part of the SCRA) are seen as "okay" while Schutzstaffel is not and an RNC-Zyklon might raise a couple eyebrows, you need only look at cultural attitudes and what it is people are educated on. Personally, I wonder just how okay it would be for some Molly players to start referencing the IRA with their shipnames. RE: Naming-convention - ASimpleMan - 01-26-2017 Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Mollies are basically the IRA in theory. They own the Irish systems (previously Londonderry, which is in northern Ireland, and Dublin) and are fighting the Bretonians (Brits) for independence. As @Petitioner mentioned, left-wing radicalism is widely accepted, right-wing is usually frowned upon. Historically seen, both aren't really any different when we go by the death count. |
