The cartel have less then 4 Gunboats, we prefer fighters and bombers, we like to consider ourselves, agressive business men....while we may extort you for 2mil your also investing in protection from the cartel. We like to keep the businesses we extort all to ourselves...

and we are very particular on who we extort, we prefer to make money.

*Pulls out a huge wad of cash from his pocket*

here...*throws a couple hundreds*

now stop complaining

I'm inclined to disagree as it's only a couple systems that seem to have pirates. If you avoid California and, apparently, Pennsylvania, the chances of running into pirates are really rather low. At least I've only run into a couple since the 4.85 came into beta.

I would say noone should pirate or fight in Penn, except if it is Starting player vs Starting player... New people learn there, and one annoying guy, be it lawfull or unlawfull, may as well make them reconsider if they want to stay here or not. Just my humble opinion.

EDIT: And I also disagree it's becoming pirate community, there are only very few systems where you can meet pirates on regular basis ( I am NOT counting their home systems )

That's probably because 90% of traders are in Advanced Trains, Container Transports and such. The bigger the target ... the bigger the ship you need to pirate it. If you wanna reduce the number of gunboat pirates you first need to reduce the number of huge transports. You gotta admit Spear ... there's not a whole lot of Dromedary's running around Sirius these days. So ... a little perspective helps to understand why there's so many pirates in gunboats.

As to the piracy in Penn ... bad form in my opinion. Penn is supposed to be for noobs to get started. Don't know what's traded there ... but if they're making loads of money ... hmm ... might need to adjust the selling price in Penn so as to reduce the reason for a pirate to go there in the first place. Either way ... I typically avoid Penn.

' Wrote:True, but I have given money to new people to start them off and then they get pirated a few minutes later and they are brand new to the game. I think that we should tone down the gunboats in there.

Don't go bashing pirates in gunboats please. Don't go making this bigger than it is. Just because there's one or two pirates invading Penn doesn't mean you gotta throw us all to the dogs. I've already mentioned one of the main reasons there's so many gunboat pirates ... its because there's so many mega-huge transport traders. So ... maybe we should tone down the mega-huge transports eh?

' Wrote:If Gunboats are pirating starfliers then that is truly pathetic.

Doubt they're pirating starfleas ... since starfleas have nothing to lose, how can they be intimidated by anyone? But pirates in Penn at all is a bit too much. Penn should be noobs home ... but if there's goods bought and sold there ... might be the problem of the traders drawing the pirates in.

And the cartel didnt run a rhino 1 mil

it was 10 mil

Pirates in penn - Mircipion - 07-05-2009

I hardly doubt that. If it was, it was because he had a bounty on his head, he can either out pay that bounty or we can collect his head and get the reward from the client.....plain and simple...

Pirates in penn - Elsdragon - 07-05-2009

My advice,

Call the LNS.

We capwhore everything, even other capwhores.

I jest, but yeah call the Liberty Navy and we will make that go boom, fourth o' July fireworks.

Pirates in penn - Cosmos - 07-05-2009

Imbeciles. If you believe a gunboat rawx the sawx off big trade ships, you are sorely mistaken. They deal out less damage than a bomber and are much easier to hit. Sure, maybe for a Supertrans or something, but against a Shire or Liner, you're in trouble.
