Honestly, if you flesh it out and do it well, in line with current lore, it could be good.

- We will go out to the Omicrons ...but, for Research and Explore ,Not Hunting down the Nomads.

I could talk about how all nomads are pink elephants in disguise.
I could then use that roleplay to do whatever.
It would be fine, unless I used that roleplay as OOC justification to gain certain things.
The Nomad Lore is written here on the forums for folks to learn about the Nomads, so we can all come to similar conclusions regarding them.
There is a mindshare for instance, that is canon.
The lore is a guide so that your characters, while not knowing this lore, can learn things that make sense in canon.
Learning about the mindshare for instance, that is good.
Learning about independent nomads for instance, that is bad. Such a thing does not exist, thus impossible inRP.
Your character might believe he has found this out but it is not actual fact, so groups such as the Order would call him an idiot etc.
I'm simply trying to avoid your faction being called crazy idiots by groups that know stuff about the Nomads.

I've seen/heard some stuff.
They really don't need the Nomads for that. People are very prejudiced against imports which attempt to force concepts into Discovery like Mary-Sues.
