RE: The "Too many rules on the server" argument argument - Epo - 11-27-2015 Right, let me explain it once again. Some stuff to balance it out: 1.Pirate vs Trader interaction: Lets just reduce the amount of piracy per player to 1 piracy per hour or two. Problem solved, no respawn abusing 2. Bombers would be OP? Then just make them dead when they die. However the pilot will be able to come back in other (non-bomber) snub. 3. Lets keep caps dying how they're dying right now, infinitely spawning caps would be a pain in fact. 4. inRP explaination of reengaging combats: Your ship was either damaged and you had to retreat OR your ship was blown up and your mothership or anyone/anything have beamed your escape pod. The same people relaunching after death makes no sence, so just RP as another pilot. Just don't behave like your original pilot. Is it that difficult? I don't think so. Everyone has logs, everyone knows when he/she has died. Everyone knows from which moment he/she should start to behave as other person 5. Why would you want to abuse? Once again: the problem wouldn't be in respawns, the problem would be in YOUR behavior how you would USE them. 6. Why do you think that the battles would be infinite? Snubs would die faster, also if there wouldn't be any battleship nearby, they'll have to come from the nearest NPC docking facility. If you're skilled in combat, you can already kill some people pretty fast, so you will kill them as fast as you do it right now. 7. How to increase activity in transports to compestate respawning in snubs? Make a death cost equal some price: 1mil, 2 mil, 5mil. I'm not sure, just make the price low enough to make you able to relaunch. Each time you would die, the person who has killed you will earn this amount (or maybe less - 50% or something about it) from your character. Poeple wouldn't want to stay infinitely in combat if they would need to pay for it. Even if the amount isn't big. It will also force you to trade from time to time, or gain money in another way 8. You don't have to stay in combat if you don't want to. Nothing forces you to interact. If you don't want to participate in the fight you can just go to another system or to another corner of the current system. Once again: The problem isn't in the re-engaging. The problem is in how we will behave. Nothing forces you to abuse, nothing forces you to behave silly. Just be as good for others as you would like to be treated like RE: The "Too many rules on the server" argument argument - jammi - 11-27-2015 Don't you think having varying rules for every ship class and capped limits on specific interactions would be a bureaucratic, labyrinthine nightmare of red tape for new players to navigate? I don't think so. You already can't engage in piracy twice against the same person in short period of time. Are those 2 or 3 sentences that much? It's already good if new players are reading the rules, whether if they do it or do not. Nothing will change this way, if they won't read it themself, other people will just explain them how does it work. Like we're all doing right now And it's pretty simple; Caps, bombers - no relaunching - only as (non-bomber) snubs if they would want to Non-bomber snubs - relaunching possible Traders will remain how they work already, so nothing changes in their case RE: The "Too many rules on the server" argument argument - Miaou - 11-27-2015 (11-27-2015, 06:21 PM)nOmnomnOm Wrote: thread was not ment to become pinned and just easy to read. That's fine. It's an opinion thread, you said your opinion. That's totally fine. All I was trying to say is perhaps if it was in a more serious tone and had more thought put into it, it would be useful as a reference to help people understand why the rules are the way they are. Maybe I didn't convey that well, my bad. Not talking about actual adult content, I'm talking about the RP behind it. (Basically, just the text.) tl;dr, but I just wanted to refer to this point. There still are some underage members of this community. While I would certainly agree that allowing for swear words from time to time within roleplay wouldn't be that bad of a thing, I also can't see a problem with the current PG system. You can still RP without swear words and it is normal. However opening this up for anything more than just swearing (such as any sexual content) would be a) possibly illegal b) an open avenue for for some completely normal people to post their poorly written 50 shades of grey fanfics on here, and we wouldn't want that.
