I've always said that giving women the vote was stupid!

Curse you, Helen.

Curse you, Paris.

-Edit- On a side note, losing myself from flood. Religion isn't such a bad thing on Disco, as long as it remains vague. Or completely ficticious. Like, "Oh teh lite!" or "The One! Yatai!" or something like... Worshipping Nomads for instance.

Religion factions could work, but it's really easy for things to go wrong. Though I imagine plenty of characters have some kind of beliefs despite not talking about them too much. It would be an interesting sort of thing to reference in biographies and such.

And as to the Gaian thing, there's a rumor that the Green Front is almost entirely made up of Professors and students from on Cambridge. The Gaians should have a similar demographic. And there's also the strong support from the Cambridge system pointing in that direction.

I dont want any religion in the RM... There is already enough honor crap...
Besides, im Atheist.

There are two things that cause war, my friends.

Seems a perfect reason to include it in Disco then, neh? Factions thrive on conflict, without it they die out.

Well, the politics has already started enough wars here. There is already some bit of religion in the game with the Outcasts' worshipping of the Nomads. Some religion could be used in the Golden Chrysanthemums because there are rumors and news reports that say they do special ceremonies. Religion does also have some role in marriage, so it's very probable that religion does still take place in the Discovery Universe. As for RPing it...I wouldn't like it too much, although that could just be my athiest side speaking. It could happen, but I wouldn't be part of it.

I'm full athiest, and sometime impious too, but one thing you can't change : human needs religions.

if you convince a human that his religions is bad or give nothing (and I wish you good luck!), he will find find another: it is in our nature.
Religions, (in fact, not in spirituality) give to humans a goal, an indentity, a community : all human need it for survive. So it's necessary to respect a religion.

Now, I have no problem to RP a character with a religion (if it is purely created of course). For this there is one thing to keep in mind all the time: this is just role-play game and when you cut your PC, it "no longer exists."
If we can play a pirate, a lawyer or a merchant, nothing prevents to get into the skin of a religious man who defends his values and faith (even if you haven't any religion in RL).

If all keep all that in mind, no problems can comes with RPing a religious, exept RP problems ( religious conflicts, alliances, convertions, ...), but that is the game...

Here, I don't think a portion of the present opinion has been voiced, let me submit it. "Change is bad."

Now that that's out of the way, a religious faction/war would be interesting provided it had no real world ties - no Latin, symbols, nothing that resembles anything here. Dom Kav'osh are a possibility. I believe that it could evolve into something similar to the Outcast/Corsair conflict, where almost everyone picks a side - but this time there's religion attached. Anyways I'd hop on the boat if there were some factions, and that's saying something, I really really really hate playing in factions.

It's impossible to create something really interesting without bases, ideas,... inspiration.

Using latin reference give an atmosphere of middle age, knights, duty, quest,... Crusaders.

Heck, the symbol for Rheinland is a sideways cross, and that's even part of vanilla FL! Personally, I like the whole Rheinland/Gottkanzler thing. I may be a left-wing athiest, but it can be lots of fun to play as an unltra-conservative zealot. Same with the TAZ and the OC-SK thing. It adds flavour to the faction which would otherwise not be present.
