A place to look at perhaps how the community is run right now. A lot of double standards so far from what I've seen to start. I wont name any names in such but we do need to look at what we once were and what we are now.

Good place to start, and I have to admit it, is some of the 'Leaders' of our mod. Hear me out, some used to be hard yet fair. But they were respected cause of more on the latter. 'Fair'. Nowadays, I don't see much of that and how several people cause of being in their position think they can get away with saying whatever and not being penalized for it in the sort. Frankly I'm getting tired of that. There are a few admins who critique players very negatively while themselves have done worse things in the past. (Wont name names)

A second idea. A total review of the rules and creative limitations that more people have been subject to. I'm excluding myself due to the fact the moment I say such people -WILL- try to ruin the tread. I'm sick of it guys, be constructive or simply shut up. Today hell I even had to listen to one member starting to demand that another VERY veteran player have his character removed cause of Time Travel. Yes. Time Travel. People. The slope has started on what we are deeming as 'Immersion Breaking" and it needs to absolutely STOP before no one will want to even think of coming here anymore. Before people were penalized for refusing to RP with others, now its nearly Promoted. Yes. Promoted. Cause of "MEH FEELINGS" and "MEH IMMURSION"

If you want to RP as something different, like a Sentient Sex Toaster oven, make it reasonable, and something that people would like, it should be bloody freaking permitted! If you want to complain and demand safe spaces for Role Playing. Go elsewhere! We cannot thrive and continue on if we subject ourselves to such a level of self censorship. "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" is a line I've seen thrown around. Bull. Pure Bull. This part of the needs of the few mean nothing is adulterated garbage. We few, used to be the many, until we started to leave the community cause of the seriousness of how multiple community members have gone over the board to force their way of making a so called 'Standard' that comes to nothing more than a psuedo-communistic way of thinking (No offense to SCRA/Coalition players). This must stop.

This is all I can think of at the moment.

I'm confused. Is that now against a rule to keep the Freelancer Lore immersion or for it?

WHen Gallia was added I think that rule went out the window, across the yard and ran over by traffic.

But Gallia was a direction-leading development of the mod. In fact, apart from the horrible I-place-one-of-everything gallic system design, the addition of Gallia is done quite convincing, although I'm personally not a fan of it.

Lore that was abandoned and left for dead by Microsoft and never fully actually finished. We had a planet with monkeys, alien squids, singularity Outcast destroyers, obsidian star bases in orbit of micro black holes, planets that are tiny but have billions of people on it, warships that should take years to make but instead take seconds, the Sol system which was destroyed by a silent engaging nomad super weapon, order snubs that went in and stopped the dyson sphere and nomads, fighters that also used missiles to destroy a Donua cruiser.

Lets face it, were 1000 year's in the future after our current time, things would be possible and we've discovered hundreds, if not, millions of new worlds with new elements, materials and races on it. Look at Planet Gaia and its animal races, are we now saying that other terra worlds had zero life? That New Tyoko's oceans are steral? That Cambridge has no life? Ya, they do, lets face it.

There's nothing 'immersive' anymore because people for a long time have complained about things that should or should not be inRP. Lets look back a few years and notice how there was little to no fighting over animalhumans, or AI's or crap like that, but ONLY AFTER the rule was put in, did people start whining and moaning.

Yes. I like my immersion as well, as does everyone. However no one likes it when their own immersion suddenly has the red carpet pulled out from under it, and banned entirely because of 1 person.

immersion is not good soil for a rule because immersion is a vary subjective thing.. you only have to look at any hypercritical star wars or star trek fan to slap thier tits about one hair's breadth of realism and what that means to them.

discovery went years with a "suggestion" of what rp and those standards meant.. the cringe never stopped and does not stop to this day. So.. I would think the only rule that actually needs to happen is.. "rp with others as others should rp with you. "

otherwise i could see a progression if setting was actually developed here but i highly doubt it will ever happen.

Who claimed there were no animals on the planets? Look at Nuremberg's infocard for example. The Core also created a guide to the animals on Nauru. Curacao's infocard mentions that the planet wouldn't support any EARTH-imported fauna, like over 500 years ago, while some of the planet has already filtered water areas that allow wildlife. Fur is sold at Tomioka. That is lore-stuff.

What is not lore-stuff however are imports from pop-culture elements. Furries, ponies and what not. I think that is an important difference, because suddenly people try to justify why they can import stuff from other franchises.

Like Babylon 5.

Digital Anvil didn't have the money to properly make the game.

-Monkeys? Easter egg.
-Nomads are actually crystalline - not squids or 'flesh'.
-Singularity OC + Obsidian Rock Station/Razgriz things are OC Guard and guard systems aren't really canon.
-There's about six billion on earth right now, scaling in FL was never accurate either, ships could be bigger than a moon.
-War ships do take years though.
-Sol's Suncrusher thing wasn't canon, appparently.
-Tactics, I doubt that the Nomads had full power since they required to charge up the Dyson Sphere, Order still lost a lot of people.
-Bombers weren't really a designated class in Vanilla, they simply could have carried destructive projectiles, but FL was rushed. Don't forget that blowing up a component of a ship actually blows up the entire capital ship, eg the panels on the lib dread's engine.

And there are definitely animals in the game, even mentioned in infocards.

The only real 'cancer' is that there's people taking issues out of the smallest thing, whining a bajillion times, and overinflating the 'problem value' of something by acting like manchildren, but that doesn't excuse anyone by going 'if u dont lik it, just ignor my rp if wan be dogman xdxdxdxd' - that's just a silly sandbox attitude and pushing it into everyone's faces.

Yes, people say mean things on the internet, yes people sithpost, boo hoo? It's not like you're getting stabbed IRL. There are much more worse communities than Disco, and I can personally vouch for it as I've been on one of the most arguably toxic gaming communities of any source game, where some people go as far as locating where you live irl, personal details - spreading it around, ddosing each other, lynching/"trolling" people is acceptable and even encouraged - god even some people would try to incline mental harm - even I've been psychologically harmed when one of my closest things died IRL and some tried to use that as their vantage point to attack, more stuff include; stalking you over the net if they had a grudge(could probably bet one of them is reading this right now. ), people get banned for being dumb, raiding other servers, hacking, etc.

I laugh at you* and your 'issues'

*not directed at anyone

Truly, the only reason the community struggles is because of the lack of fixed income players, people take this game too seriously and maybe even too personally. I always take what people say with a pinch of salt mainly due to what I said earlier and that how people sithpost, and I instantly know when someone is being serious or not - usually by context, word choice, or when they're suddenly using grammar. If people get mad over nothing, leave them be mad on their own, you can't change who they are but reasons can be left.

Impy always pokes me with some kind of twisted, grossly, sexual sentence now and then in the morning on Steam or Skype - infact he even goes as far as trying to burn me occassionally in Skype chats I'm in with other people - trying to get on my nerve, but am I going to flip out over it? No.

(Mainly because it's partially funny when he tries)))))))))) Yes, I laugh at burns directed at me sometimes. )

It doesn't help the image of furries if we're considered to be the most dramatic people in whatever forum we're in.
