Mmh. Quite a stir over Capital ships, as usual. But what can you expect? You give a man power and expect him not to use it? As long as Capital Ships exist, so will this problem. You can change the rules and regulations to squeeze tighter and tighter on both the 'lolwutters' and the people who actually roleplay, but there will always be those that play only just enough by the rules that they don't get sanctioned, but enough to piss everyone off. You'll probably end up losing more valuable members of the community than 'lolwutters' in the end.

That's totally not true. I was messing around with a cruiser on openSP outside Manhatten, blowing up every NPC that came by. All AI seem to use the same basic aiming, which is quite easy to dodge if you know how. I wasn't dodging 100% of the shots, but enough that it didn't beat my shield recharge. Not only that, but Newark has tiny range on its' defense batteries, and the area outside Manhatten is quite large.
Not only that, but when a 'lolwutter' is on a rampage in any system, if everyone starts logging off to avoid them, it is just the same as dying. Your roleplay and fun has been ruined just the same. Ignoring them is counter-productive.

And to Noobl3t, from your harsh reactions to this thread its' easy to see you consider yourself a good roleplayer, and I don't doubt that for a second. But perhaps instead of fighting a trivial battle against a thread like this you could be one of the ones who set an example of good roleplay to those that need it. If a good roleplayer refuses to sign such a registration out of some petty disagreement on views, then what kind of example does that set to everyone else? Discovery is a roleplaying community and we have to work together to make it a better place.

Other than that, I don't think capital ship registration is the answer, either. I think you'll find that a lot of the people who are the cause of this problem do not even have a forum account. And if they do, it was quite possibly created to post in their sanction thread. What ever the solution to this problem is, I don't think we'll find it at the bottom of a thread like this.
Personally, if it were up to me I'd just ban all Outcast capital ships from NY and make the LR Dessie a Molly Dessie only. It worked with the Bounty Hunters. But I know everyone will hate that idea, probably Del included, since he has several OC/LR dessies for the LR-.

I read the thread and had massive lulz.

Sindroms, as I've said before, there are people on this server who ate far too many paint chips as children - or still currently thrive on a diet of paint chips. It's the same case all over the internet. But quite frankly, every example you've brought up, is an example of one of our paint chip-eating brothers' attempts to have fun. Yes, it's deconstructive to RP on the server, Yes, it's annoying, but it's their attempt to do what this server is here for.

And I say, "Let them have their fun."

We can browbeat them, scream at them, or curse at them over Skype all we want, but frankly, we're just getting stressed over an internet spaceships game that we could be having fun on as well. Just leave them be and say a Hail Mary or whatever the heck you choose to say on Sunday mornings(Saturday nights, Fridays, and Wednesdays included too...) for the guys who got "lolnubpwned" by the paint chip-eater in the capship.

I'm bluntpencil and I approve of this message.

I consider myself to have an RP which is sufficient enough to integrate into the community and role-play without any adverse affects to non-powergaming entities on the server.

I have already addressed why my response is not trivial and petty.

Furthermore, perhaps for the purpose of highlighting ignorance, my LNS is registered in Joe's thread. Setting a good example however, is not writing a ten thousand page story on the forums, nor is it stringing together a paragraph in a registry topic, it is role-playing properly in-game, and any of the ideas proposed in this thread fail to see that. (My Bretonian ship was also registered, when Unselie had a voluntary registry going. Joe's thread had more complex reasons for my name being added.)

bloody hell..just make faction has the right to control all capship..the whole world should be alot more quiet..

Independent Capital ships vs Factions - Robert.Fitzgerald - 05-04-2009

That would just create resentment towards the factions.

Perhaps factions should shut up?

(Apologies, but your attitude is "let us ignore everything that has been said and institute a dictatorship because it will give me some measure of silence and a false sense of peace".)

after seeing Rheinland cap spam ,i lost faith in most indis caps.....good RP caps..all thumbs up for those..but they are only a very small part of total cap population....

but this is just me being too serious on RP with caps..
if i am not serious about it..i have no problem having 10 bombers raping cap spammers 24/7..but having 10ppl online at the sametime is a luxury we can rarely get..

Independent Capital ships vs Factions - Varyag - 05-04-2009

This whole thread is lolwut fail. lololol we hatez capwhorez everyone on our bomberz we pew pew you till die haha.

This thread has come up sooooo many times it is almost comical. I bet if you copied one right on top of the other you would not only get the same post but from the same people.

If you don't like "indes" or "capspammers" don't interact with them.

For christs sake gents.

Independent Capital ships vs Factions - Hawkwings - 05-04-2009

Have you ever considered the possibility that maybe, sometimes, you won't be able to ignore them? What then?
