hahah burn. but yeah, slaves are detectable because they have no id or anything. and are usually branded i figure. an inspection (scan) of your ship would prove that.

human commodity - no id = slaves
Human commodity - ID = rest
Alien commodity - no id = gadzum, nomads!
Alien commodity - id = DIE TOTTEN HOZEN! no, jk, the wilde.

Thats not really what we are arguing here , but whatever. I have a Junker. I haven't traded in Slaves since ... Ok , so long I can't even remember. But what pisses me off is not that people stop me , is that people look at an infocard to instantly say that we are carrying slaves. ( that is metagaming, by the way) Slavers don't exactly put them in a box tagged "slaves", y'know?

Seeing as how we can't board your ship to find the thousands of slaves chained to the bulkheads, to accuse abolitionists of metagaming by using the infocards is metagaming in and of itself. You know that we can't board your ship to see the slaves in the flesh, so you say that we are metagaming in claiming you have slaves on board.

I'll say it again.

[color=#FFFFFF]Abolitionists are restricted in what they can do by the mechanics of the game.

Anyway, this is rapidly becoming an enormously pointless thread of No U, No U, No U, No U.

Oh, now it is metagaming if I catch a A-Train (or even better, Pilgrim) full of human (Slaves) in Coronado? This game has an item called 'cargo scanner' and its called so for a reason. Its ment to show me what you have on your ship. Expect people to use this item.

On the other hand: Organisations like CR, ZAS and GMG are fighting slavery for a long time now. Their pilots have lots of experience in the field and are capable of assessing situations, people and ships. In case of doubt, I'll simply demand that you transfer 10 random people to my ship to confirm your story.

I can turn the coin around too. If my trader gets stopped by Lane Hackers and they demand me to drop the Lane parts I'll just say 'ololol! You metagamers, those are no Lane parts! You cannot know this! ololol!'
How would you feel if you were the lane hacker? What would you do? Right. Pull the trigger.

How does your magical cargo scanner distinguish slaves from refugees? VIPS? Space ship crew? Scientists?

Last I heard, humans come in various shapes and sizes.

Never met a slaver who was willing to role-play being caught or releasing the cargo for someone else to pick up. Plus I've heard my fair share of "I cant release them, they'll die of oxygen starvation". Which makes most slavers look like nubs who are trying to get away with a pretty appalling crime while having zero consequences for themselves.

Correction: Oooh wait, I remember two actually.

So metagame slaves dying and expect people to metagame (or indeed arrange) passing trade ships performing an act of mercy. The game is limited - don't let your limited imagination or lack of willingness to "play" with others limit it more.

Slaves are the only human commodity in the game who only use one cargo space. You think abolitionists are too stupid to do some simple maths?
Oh yes, I'll tell the next pirate who demands my VIPs to take them hostage he's a metagamer too. Let's look what he will say.

Oh, another thing. Go into a bar of your choice. Talk to someone. No! Don't pres ESC to skip the cutscene! The NPC will ask for your ID! He scans it! If he can do this, I can do this too.

Knowledge of cargo spaces per unit of each cargo= metagaming as well.

I am not saying that everything is metagaming , that time I was stopped when I had slaves was quite in-RP. The RM scanned me , said they picked up a huge number of undernourished people in cramped spaces and I tried to roleplay them as refugees. What I would like to see was more people doing that instead of instantly saying "You have slaves in your hold , drop them now.".

*shudders*

Uh, no, I'm just picking out the most realistic answer to this thread whilst sitting in a classroom before an exam. Believe me, if you had said something sensible, I would have signed it as well.

I'll add, however, that the skin crawling feeling is mutual, as you're using emoticons while not using periods.
And you also posted a rickroll in the music thread. I feel like I'm on cocaine when you're around.

Anyways.

In reality, you could cripple a slaveship, and then board it and rescue all the slaves.

In the game, you can't cripple ships. And if you don't destroy the slave ship, it escapes.

So, striking a balance between the game and reality seems to be destroying the slaveship so all the cargo drops, and the RPing that it's there, just crippled, and you send rescue ships in to board the "derelict" and save the slaves. As our dear

Most slavers wouldn't take time to RP this out, so the above option is perhaps the best one to do.
If, however, slavers were inclined to RP with those that board them and whatnot, such actions wouldn't be necessary. But we're being realistic here, so they're likely not going to roleplay.

EDIT:

Concerning "knowing they're slaves:"

This is easy. Slavers jam people into the tightest spaces possible so they can maximize profit.
Such masses of humanity are very easy to distinguish from the much, much sparser passengers that other ships would carry - and yes, even refugees wouldn't be packed that tight.

These are inhumane conditions in slaveships.
