I just started playing again maybe a month ago. I'm not going to lie, I'd like to eventually own a cap ship. I think the RP possibilities of a large vessel are huge and endless, but if it isn't a military vessel it is going to be constantly griefed.

I think the main reason people gravitate towards the cap ships is so that they don't feel like their game experience is being dictated to them. You get in a transport, freighter, or fighter, and there is someone who is going to throw their weight on you. If you are in a cap ship, generally you choose the engagements (or throw your weight onto people, unfortunately).

I am probably considered a noob with noobish opinions, but I've played multiple mods on multiple servers for a long time. Hell, look at my join date here. I think my observations are valid, even if you don't agree with them.

Listen, in all Finality. I admit that i went about the argument the wrong way, I admit that Caps can be generally fun and add to gameplay. But it is a valid point that anything large, that can be used to beat other people more easily is going to be abused and i'm sick of it, i was merely hoping that perhaps something can be done to make the possibillity of that happening less likely. Not going to happen so there really is no point to discussing it further.

Caps can be fun, they create great RP but when it comes to balancing the game they are just a bad choice.
Now, i'm going to go buy a capship to try and see things from everyone else's point of view, is anyone going to try and fight honorably in a snubcraft to see them from mine?

I'm sorry about the trouble and i'm sorry i'm a nub who can't use "search". See you in game. I'll probably be the one attempting to learn how to fly a cap.

I RP my caps more than I PVP with them.

You want a snub fight, find the SCRA. Biggest thing we field on a regular basis are Storm GBs. And not alot too.

Farenheit, enjoy your cap if you get one. Since I'm biased, I'm going to have to recommend any IMG thing. Gunboats don't count as caps in my opinion, and those of many others, but if you want something small, the Hydra is a lovely light gunboat. Just be aware that next mod version it will look like a junker ship that's nearly barfworthy. Zephyr is fun to fly. Ignore the haters, etc, trolo and (smoke) blahblahblah. Have fun and RP, and things should go just fine for you.

I like people flying capships, theyr much more fun to fight than fighters, which take soooooo long. And the bounties pay out better too.

Plus with turret steering in 4.86 and them designed to be more like caps and less like big fighters, they're hopefully gonna be even better.

Plus, capships are way not "overpowered" 3 bombers worth 45 mill can take out a BS worth a billion.
