Actually your wrong. I can attack anything i want without saying a word first,I just cannot kill it without a demand/RP. Many pirates do this all the time. Knock off trader's shields, and some armour then yell "2 mil or dai, or we finish you off" Perfectly legal.

As always, your willfull misreading of the rules astounds me.
Try that. Go ahead. Enjoy having your ship stripped of guns and zeroed.
5.2 applys to all encounters. You can't start shooting without giving a Rp reason for shooting first.
However, you don't have to make a demand before shooting. Cept for the first part, your correct.
An example:
Pirate: Cut your engines and prepare to be boarded! [satisfies 5.2]
Trader: NO! (cruises)
Pirate: Arrr, yes ye will! (opens fire, drops shields, bit of hull)
Trader: NO U
Pirate: Drop it all or die, matey! [satisfies piracy rules]
Trader: GO TO HECK, PIRATE SCUM.

The difference being that Samura ships are on bounties that aren't blanket bounties on *everyone.*

You're mixing up 5.2 and 6.6.

You need to have some form of RP before you attack them, that's 5.2. This can be something as simple as "Hold it there for a moment, trader."

However, you need to make a demand of a transport before you can destroy it, that's 6.6. Once you've fulfilled 5.2, you can shoot all you want, but you can't actually destroy them until you've made a demand and given them time to respond.

There used to be a "rules explanation series" sticky, but it appears to be gone. Oh, there it is: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=60036

Hmm I am trying to get the point of this one.
Do you mean the other traders, because I am sure most of them will have a bounty on them somewhere, and I am sure they have had to come to terms with what happens when they are killed.
Bountying a trader can be seen as bypassing some rules, but has this issue not been dealt with before, I am not too sure as I just found it accpetable to be bountied as a trader.
If I am going off on the wrong tangent, I appologise.

Back to Liberty. Where some liberty still exists and traders can feel safe.
