' Wrote:Actually, I have yet to see a Bretonian or a Kusarian in there. It's usually the =CR= or indie IMGers who pirate me while I'm hauling cardamine back to Buffalo. Liberty is a safer place to move the stuff than the Taus.

And if you don't like being called a jerk, don't say such remarks like "Buy a bigger ship" when it is blatantly obvious to anyone bothering to read before posting that I was unable to do this. It would have continued to be so had Boss not so kindly intervened by giving me a loan.
What you fail to see, Baltar, is that some people like to RP. RP costs money. When I go out for a pirate run, for example, that costs about 100k of regens and ammunition that either get used up or lost when the transport blasts me out of the skies. I've got to make up 100k somehow, and trading is my only option. Right now I'm hoping to start a totally non-PvP character-- a trial nomad with no guns whatsoever. However, that costs some serious credits to create the character.

So the way I see it, I can either be allowed to RP and contribute to the community, or I can be ground to dust by "gimme all your stuff and four million". Seems like it's pretty obvious who the real leech is.

Novel idea, why not smuggle, pirate, -and- RP.

Bucket find big giggle here.

' Wrote:What needs to happen is for the prices of cargo to go WAY up at unlawful guard bases. Cassini lies in a critical location between the Liberty and Kusari houses ... thus the Rogues would profit greatly from the heavy trade that goes between the two houses. All commodities pillaged from traders should be double what they could be sold for on lawful planets. This would encourage piracy of cargo AND would keep these "lawful" traders honest since you'd have to be green with the Liberty Rogue Guard in order to sell the stuff.
The problem there is that we would end up with a TON of Junker loltraders going back and forth between legal bases and Junker bases rather than pirating.

Truthfully, i wouldn't want to pirate at all if i could only cargo pirate. i've been in a gunboat before, and i hate being swarmed by 3 bombers, i hate not being able to RP well, and it cost a lot more money to run than a bomber. But a bomber doesn't have enough cargo space to get more than a few hundred thousand. i usually demand a mil for a regular trader,(not a freighter, a transport.) and i think thats reasonable. I get money, the trader still gets profit, and we're all happy in the end.

However, cargo pirating would make the trader get much less profit, and you would have to sell it somewhere where it gets even less. why pirate cargo when you can just trade then use /givecash? It just doesn't work out the way i see it.

That Pic is Win Ivan :D

@Josh
Example when I go out on a Corsair PIR Transport. Most stuff I acquire in Bretonia or the Omegas.
Can be sold for great profit in Gamma or somewhere else in the Omegas. Not at minimum but at maximum value possible. Take Nuclear Devices for example from someone in Omega or Quantum Multipliers from someone in Sigmas. Take it to Gamma and you make quite a bit if your in a PIR Transport. Well worth the trip.
I once made 37mill in 2 hours. More then any trade run(s).

As long as you have some knowledge of where stuff (Stuff thats usually traded in the area you are setting up shop) gets good profit. You can make more then trading and its alot more fun.
