Is player level inRP or ooRP? - Ponge - 12-04-2013 Hello. The question is: can someone mention player level inRP in a demand, when the pirate and the victim are arguing about the cash amount demanded? Like: - Give me 5 mill. - I am poor, I work for a 500k credit/month salary. My company has a pirate insurance worth 3 mill, I cannot pay more than that, because I don't have. - Poor? You are level 90, you have millions. Is this acceptable, or considered metagaming? (I'm not considering now the situation when a pirate sees that the victim is an lvl 45 freighter, so he won't ask for 10 mill from him/her.) RE: Is player level inRP or ooRP? - nOmnomnOm - 12-04-2013 Hmm... i think its mainly OORP but you can translate it to something in RP. Say his ship is of high quality, maybe hes well known...etc RE: Is player level inRP or ooRP? - Highland Laddie - 12-04-2013 Sounds like metagaming...or maybe just non-sensical RP. Why would skill levels exist inRP? I see the skill level as an OORP tool you use to evaluate how you can interact with a player. You wouldn't go around inRP broadcasting how skilled/unskilled you are as a transport in areas where pirates operate. That's just dumb. RE: Is player level inRP or ooRP? - nOmnomnOm - 12-04-2013 Then again if you see a simple trader that is level 90 and says hes poor then there is something wrong here.... actually hes lying. Blow him up. If you roleplay that your character doesn't believe him and base it on that he is lvl90, then that would be metagaming, as you would roleplay the actions of your character based on ooRP knowledge.

Look at the armor, look at the cargo, look how he treats you. he doesnt comply, fine. hes dead RE: Is player level inRP or ooRP? - Remnant - 12-04-2013 In short, the rank means nothing ingame. Characters cannot see a 'rank' of another. They have no way of knowing. Acting upon ANY sort of activity just because of the rank, is indeed metagaming besides perhaps the below 30 server rule (unless thats old stuff, haven't checked up lately) RE: Is player level inRP or ooRP? - Luke. - 12-04-2013 Lets face it though, who doesn't use the playerlist to find activity. You can use level to weigh up how much you're going to charge them but that doesn't have to be apparent InRP at all. RE: Is player level inRP or ooRP? - Wraga - 12-04-2013 Just delete players level/location from the chat box and problem solved. RE: Is player level inRP or ooRP? - Thargoid - 12-05-2013 No, player level is obviously out of RP. He's just talking ooRP in local. Just make a demand and stick to it, or lower it slightly, if he won't pay, kindly take him down to 10% hull and see if he'll reconsider. If I see a trader in a 5K full of ore, and he uses the old "I have no money, I just bought this ship"... if he's lying, he dies, if he's telling the truth, he dies, if they are stupid enough to haul ore with no money to pay pirates, then they deserve to be punished. I know you're the probably the trader here, so I don't know why I'm talking to the pirate. |
