BAF Faction Status - Dieter Schprokets - 09-09-2008
Revised BAF Faction Status Entry
Drew heavily on Unselie's old one. It was a good one.
Have a look-see and comment:
1) Backstory : Sound Good? Trevelyan, did I summarize recent political history ok?
2) Privateers : Blunt et al, happy with it? No ranks, as requested.
3) Roster : Miss anybody? Get anyone's rank messed up?
Note that I took the liberty of promoting a few people, especially those who kept QCRF alive recently
(Winks at Marvin..)
4) Capitals : Accurate list? I think some ships are there that no longer exist.

Nice, nice. Perhaps a mention that 'officially' the Privateers are mercs hired by Stuart, in order to gain some deniability if it all goes tits-up.
I also believe that the Revenge is Privateer.
Also, we're in the process of making dodgy Privateer Fireflies. Should be fun.:D
All in all, kick ass. Those squinty northerners won't see us coming!:P

I think it's quite good, Dieter. Well done.
Only two comments: I think you should delete "arrogant" before "assessment" in your description of the Royalist reaction to the Populists. Since the Royalists are your backers, you don't want to make them look bad, and most of the BAF probably agrees with their primary political position.
Also, I'm not sure you should list the Federalists on your diplomacy yet. We haven't even done a faction proposal yet as we're still getting organized, getting known in-game, and raising money for the proposal. At this point, we're just an RP group.
When we are listed, I'm also wondering if we should be under "hostile." Our stated goal is to dismantle the monarchy and the industrial complex that supports it. I don't think we could be more explicitly against the current government. That said, it doesn't mean we have to be KoS and that the RP of a cautious stance couldn't still be maintained. My hunch, of course, is that the caution won't last long once we get into interdicting trade more aggressively.

Right, after some discussion and thinking et cetera, I've decided...
Privateers, get your rep up with the Junkers, and buy Pirate IDs from them.
Pirate IDs indicate that you are a pirate, affiliaed with your IFF (BAF). Works for me, and anyone that says otherwise is getting keelhauled.:P

Didn't we run across problems with this when we were first starting out? OoRP mix of IFF and ID, or something.....
