[Server Config] The Return of Vagrant Super-neutrality - The_Godslayer - 10-10-2025 Type: Server Config Bug: Barrier gate shoots Wild, shoots Nomads, shoots Vagrants, does not shoot Wendigos Reproduction Steps:
Additional Information: I'd think that someone repping spooky alien gang would, in fact, be targeted by station defenses. Do not repeat this template for unrelated bugs, each needs their own thread. RE: The Return of Vagrant Super-neutrality [Server Config] - A Magpie - 10-10-2025 Wild players can do /setiff shenanigans to become full friendly with NPC factions while still flashing the Wild IFF. If someone's flying overt Wild and camping a base that's not shooting them to /1 /2 people, that should probably be classified as an exploit. I was under the impression that the IFF would get reset back to hostile upon undocking if you weren't actually making use of the /setiff (say, your IFF is not actually Freelancer) RE: The Return of Vagrant Super-neutrality [Server Config] - A Magpie - 10-10-2025 I could drop the 100k for a /resetrep and Zoner ID just to flex because as it stands now, there is no way for a covert Wild ID'd ship to legitimately obtain the IFF except via ID switcheroo shenanigans. RE: [Server Config] The Return of Vagrant Super-neutrality - Alex. - 01-11-2026 Having a Wendigo ID & IFF does not actually enforce a hostile rep with the Freelancer faction, they can be up to 0.9 rep with the Freelancer group. The same is true with the Zoner and Pirate groups. This appears to be quite deliberate in the configuration - they inherit from Vagrants but have these factions set specifically. I'm not sure that it's a bug in any way. RE: [Server Config] The Return of Vagrant Super-neutrality - The_Godslayer - 01-12-2026 It seems it's not a bug per se and more just an intended roleplay allowance that happens to be highly abusable in PvP. RE: [Server Config] The Return of Vagrant Super-neutrality - Alex. - 01-12-2026 Apparently the only reason the rep hacks I mentioned above exist is so that Wendigos (and other Wild) can use /setiff to Freelancer/Zoner/Pirate, in order to go under cover. And yet Freelancer stations should still be shooting them. I think something is fundamentally wrong here and we should look at other ways for Wild factions to achieve the right affiliation without having Freelancer/Zoner/Pirate bases be essentially special cased in a way that no other human NPC faction is. Perhaps some other FLHook command/config, perhaps separate factions that just appear to be Freelancers, or some other alternative. RE: [Server Config] The Return of Vagrant Super-neutrality - jammi - 02-16-2026 This isn't exactly a bug, more of a policy decision that's applicable to both Wendigos and Wild. I'm going to move this to invalid in the interim, but staff will discuss whether there are better alternative solutions. Possibly not without giving Aingar premature stress-induced baldness. |
