suggestion - grego - 05-11-2007 is it possible in the nbext discovery to get it so the asteroids when you hit them bounce off you not the other way round adn is this possible with the metal debree as well like in TNG but instead of putting it in an average mod put it in the best mod out there for FL. i dont know about everyone else but bouncing off asteroids is just plain annoying. suggestion - BestFlyerHere - 05-11-2007 This issue has been attempted before. The FL engine states that asteroids are immovable objects, so we can't change that. Sorry. suggestion - Denelo - 05-11-2007 Well, actually you can, but it's VERY time-consuming. It would help with mining problems too, so it might be good... basically, you go in and turn all the asteroids into the little flying minable things, but with the normal asteroid models. And you have to do it to every. Single. Last. Field. Not fun. But anyways... I might research this some when I have time. suggestion - Doom - 05-11-2007 and what happens when two players meet at same place in asteroid filed and server must calculate and send info on rocks and their bouncing to both players?...add to that few npcs in area and rocks bouncing of them with processor time and bandwidth needed and u will most probably get very laggy server... or am i wrong? suggestion - Korrd - 05-11-2007 If we made the asteroids independent objets, so they can interact, the server would have to calculate their movements and inform all the players on line of sight of its condition. That would take a big computational power to be done, hence, the lag would be so high, that the game would be unplayable. Our server lacks the processing power to do that. Unless someone wants to donate U$S 10.000 so i can put together an 8 core OC'ed behemonth with 4GB of RAM.... suggestion - Denelo - 05-11-2007 Ah well, was worth a thought:) |
