4.86 Event Three Thread - Cannon - 07-07-2010

Based on the discussion on this poll the proposal for next event is OC vs Corsair fight in Eta.

It was on 2nd place in the poll and is by far the easiest to set up, hopefully requiring no control after starting.

Background

Messina Freeport was originally built by the Zoners in 770-780 A.S. Shortly after Omicron Eta system has become a site of constant battle between the Outcasts and the Corsairs, those few zoners who stayed here abandoned the station. In 805 A.S. it was been populated by a group of Corsairs who used it as a supply depot for their fighters, but only a year later an Outcast raiding party attacked the station while most of the local Corsairs were on patrol duty. Poorly defended with only a few low-power turrets, the station could not stand long against Outcast bombers and was completely destroyed. Most of the Corsairs who were onboard by the time of the attack managed to escape in remaining fighters.

Now some corsair are manning the wreck and use it to explore possible weaknesses in Outcast defenses. They have been able to map hidden paths in the minefield and intend to use them in a sneak attack. Unfortunately for them the ship transferring those maps to corsair space was intercepted by an outcast patrol, who this way learned about both the hidden paths and about the corsair listening post.
Outcasts are now launching an attack to destroy the listening post, Corsair forces are called by the crew for defense, leading to escalation

Outcasts

- start in Omicron 85
- their reputation is full green to OC guard, full red to everything else (including normal Outcasts)

Corsairs

- start in Omicron 74
- full green to Corsair Guard and Zoner Guard, full red to everything else (including normal Corsairs)

Equipment/Ships

- restart for each shiptype will be provided with some loadout which doesn't really matter as both sides will have all equipment available on their starting bases (fighters start on the closest base - Freeport XV/Bastia, capital ships at Corsica/Livadia, but they can respawn also on the other base)
- corsair characters will have full choice of own faction guns in their hold as these are not sold in O-74
- outcast characters will have some debilitators in their hold for the same reason
- all zoner guns/ships/ids sold in O74 will be blocked from sale
- all capital ships armors will be blocked from sale (so ships only use the armor they start with)
- each ship will have more than enough cash to freely change loadouts (20 mil for fighters, 50-100 for capitals)

not that i wouldnt like the idea, but the question is - how is this related to events in the next mod? i understand there may be spoilers and therefore the question will not be answered, but i dont see the relevance.

other than that, great. finally some movement on the front.

edit: tena i think its to prevent people from spawning from bases in case the battle comes near a base. it would be stupid if the corsairs were spawning in 94.

It is possible to run mini sub-events during the main event.

Ex. Corsair freighters trying to bring supplies to Messina. Some corsairs will get freighters and get cargo (by admin/mod online) the admin/mod then sits at the port and counts how much cargo gets transferred to him.

(just an example)

Suggestions welcome, official factions have priority in them.

In RP it doesn't. Just like it doesn't make sense that people respawn all the time etc etc.

Mutual distance to the fight zone.

Question: Corsairs spawning in O-74 is not going to have any effect on roleplay, will it?

Let me rephrase the question. After the mod gets updated, should the Zoners expect messages from the Outcasts along the lines of, "You allowed our enemy to base from your Guard system. You shall all die."
