[Concept] - Dampening Fields for Bases - Fletcher - 04-12-2011

Is it possible to create a module for some bases in the game that emit some form of invisible field that can drain power from ships?

The goal of this module is to lower the effective firepower of 'base huggers' and invading forces that get in-close until the unit is disabled.

Though until there is a chance of it being possible, I shall not burden you longer with specifics.

Is this thing possible?

It should be possible. Just think of a radiation effect damage directed towards your energy level, this can be done with some few edits, and by placing the radiation zone bulb in the area around the bases. Of course this is a mastodon of a project, with all the bases that Discovery has, without mentioning the ones that we inherited from vanilla.

Hmm, energy radiation drain... I guess that is one way to do it. Though in my head I can only see this being effective with military or far out Zoner bases in the Omicrons.

Was hoping there can be a way to make it ID specific, or those allied are not affected by the drain.

I like the idea, and could be a very big tactical advantage. But what if ingame there is a RP event in which implies the take over of a station ?

Then get the admins to agree to an alteration of the station properties? Hotfix update of sorts.
